The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3574

Perhaps higher disposable income might mean more Vancourites are consuming more, but when it comes to menswear, it's pretty miserable here. AE and AF tees with jeans or shorts seem to be the standard uniform in the land of Lululemon and Yoga.

Maybe I just need to visit the thrift stores in more affluent areas, such as Kits, Point Grey or West End. OTOH I had a lot of luck in Victoria, a city filled mostly with retirees. I've found a Belvest DB SC and Burberry tweed SC with throat latch there. Probably one of my best finds.

She's from Rocky Mountain House. We went to Red Deer as a halfway point to meet her brother and sister (living in Calgary and Edmonton) for dinner.

It was a bit cold for my California bones... I did two runs up there in temperatures in the low to mid 20s (-5 or so). Brrr...

Its like that everywhere. you never walk into a store and have amazing find jumping into your cart, it's lot of sifting through crap to find the odd gem. Once you're at it for a while you'll get a feel for the stores in your area and you'll know which ones to hit more often and which ones are long shots, sometimes geography plays a role, sometimes not.

Looks fine aside from your wrinkly jacket. Your hair is super 'young republican' though.

So here's my question.  Living in Downtown Vancouver BC - where in the lowermainland are some good thrift shops to start at for nicer clothes.  Everywhere I go seems to be hipster sweater ville.... no real clothes.

I was recently in Vancouver, and being the reasonable sort that sees INSANE prices on everything and assumes it translates to good thrift pickings, I was excited about my free afternoon. But after a lot of walking and hitting four or five stores, there was nothing.

Vancouver does have a lot of hip boutique "thrift" places, but those are, of course, expensive as all get out.

I am planning on giving it a steam and the pants a press my dad has a pants press it comes in handy. haha I would agree with you on the hair some days it looks all james dean like some days it looks hobo like but most days it looks like I am the president of the young republican club. I don't really identify with either party though I consider myself a very moderate libertarian or in other words a pretentious twat who has no real opinions

Agree, it's a bit too much shirt cuffs. Is that more than an inch? I personally prefer half to 3/4 inches showing. The tie knot could be a bit tighter, look to Spoo for inspiration.

Overall I really like your look, very dapper and nicely done fing02[1].gif

This should be the motto of this thread. Well put.

Never thought I'd see RLPL in my town. There were four of the BBGF ties. Didn't buy any because I'm hoping the price will drop on the RLPLs and the BBGF are too fat for me.

I once drove an hour to a SA in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood (it's a pretty expensive area), after a waitress told me she has found a lot of "really good stuff" there. After 30 minutes of looking (literally) at every single menswear item, nothing ffffuuuu.gif

I should have known better when she defined "really good stuff" as Lululemons.

Someone was watching over me tonight.

Navy Stripe in my size (keeping):

Gray Stripe in my size (keeping):

Gray Stripe, nice high gorge, flat front, could probably wear, but might end up selling:

2 days after finding the zegna cashmere that was too big, I find this in a wonderful blue (pics don't do it justice, keeping):

And finally I found this - dated 1963. Fish mouth lapels like a mofo but still neat:
