Wow, didn't think I'd be in the top 10. This is however, the only thread I actually post in regularly.

I now have one of the heaviest coats I've ever seen in my closet and it will get good use and pics soon.
I also received something I had hoped would make it today. A couple of weeks ago, I posted about a fur collar cashmere/wool coat that I wanted to buy. It was this: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Well, I bought it and it made it here today. I love it, but it's ridiculous. I'm not sure how I should wear it or whether, in fact, it should wear me. Anyway, it's a 50/50 cashmere/wool Aquascutum with what I believe is beaver fur collar. I may get it shortened a bit. I tried it a number of ways and naturally they all looked over the top because it's a fucking fur collared overcoat. No dressing this thing down. Anyway, I thought I'd post some pictures of it.

Wow, that is just fantastic! Good score, I would wear the hell out of that. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I have, in fact, done almost every color and it's worked almost every time. The only thing I've ever destroyed was a Barracuta Harrington jacket. Moral of the story, don't use the treatment on anything with a colored liner. facepalm.gif I actually found a Bijan linen tuxedo shirt last year that was the most disgusting shade of yellow, one soak in the ol' oxyclean, followed by a hot wash in the laundry and that sumbitch looked and smelled like a fresh spring morning.

SA around here goes through this every couple years or so, jacking prices, then putting them back where they were when stuff doesn't move. It's happening now, with nothing-special overcoats getting marked at $20 or more and BB OCBD's at the $6 level, and the racks are starting to groan. Saturdays, when that week's color tag goes to 49 cents, can get pretty crazy, and eventually they catch on and realize they're letting stuff go for 50 cents that would've brought in ten times that amount if they hadn't been greedy on the front end. End of the day, the grail stuff is so few-and-far between that it doesn't make up for the run-of-the-mill stuff that doesn't move because it's overpriced, and they never, ever seem to be able to figure out what's good and what is not, sayeth the man who walked out with yet another pair of Red Wing boots today for $3 in 6D that have "Japan" written all over them.

I'm seeing this at one of the Value Village stores i hit regularly, ties start at $6.99 for beat-ass stained polyester, saw a moth eaten and frayed prada suit at $99 and a nwt hugo boss unlined cotton stretch that looked like it had been in a garbage bag for a few months for $249.99. Both of the suits were gone within a week frown.gif

I don't think season matters. Warmer weather will be back soon enough. No one ever answered my secret Santa question about the Etro LS polo I found. frown.gif I'm keeping it!

No way, gift it to them. The idea is to find/gift something things you think they may really like (and if they don't too bad). fing02[1].gif

yup, was gonna say the same thing. i'm starting to think that Oxxford is a "proceed with caution" brand. their label doesn't appear to have changed much (compared to Hickey Freeman, for example) over the years, so you really have to use your eyeballs and be extra critical of the styling. personally, i'd rather have a recent mid-tier piece (HF Ltd, Facconable, etc) than an old Oxxford.

Discovered a great source of discounted quality clothes in Carmel, CA called J. Lawrence Khaki. The upstairs is 15,000 square feet. Rather than put things on sale on the main floor, they have a downstairs room that is very large and filled with markdowns. They have tons of top quality sweaters, jackets, ties, outerwear, casual and tailored clothing from Europe, and the US. Lots of well known brands. I picked up a beautiful Irish Inis Meain chunky knit sweater. Much better than anything at the Gilroy outlets.

With Oxxford, this is the label you want:

[Just kidding, see Nat's post a few down.]
