The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3464
Do you guys know if Alden ever made for Cole Haan? Ive got a pair of shoes that look like they have the identical coding on the interior wall.
Also, a consignor sent me some things to sell that he thrifted. Pretty much the most insane things I have seen - he kept the tags on them for me to see and gave me permission to post. You will lose your minds.
Just one find today:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) I know many Chipp tie patterns are puns (e.g., Santa with his pants down = "moon over the North Pole" and guy with a cat on his head = "pussy on the mind"). Can anyone "decode" this pattern?
Hmmm...Santa don't care, Santa don't give a shit?
Hmm... Santa's going to dump some packages as he checks his list -- twice?
P.S. I hope that going to a Secret Santa pal!
Noice!!!!! Still waiting to pop my Kiton cherry. Need any shooz?
Two good scores today at Value Village.
The first is an unstructured light pink (or salmon) La Vera Sartoria Napoletana cotton jacket. It's partially lined. Triple patch pocket, 3 roll 2. The sleeves fit perfectly, which is fortunate since it has working cuffs.
The second is a dark green Raf Simons overcoat. The tag indicates it's from the 2000-1 F/W season. It's a 38 (48 European), so too small for me. I'll be chucking it up on eBay.
Oh, sweet Jesus, let me know when you toss that on the bay.
Here's a question (that I could begin an entire thread on, but I won't): what are some ideas for a formal overcoat? Black is a natural choice, but I found something in navy cashmere with a fox fur collar. I know it's over the top, but could I mix black tie and a dark navy?? I don't think so, but I'd like confirmation
Dude, that coat is the bees knees, I say rock it. If not with a tux, then any other time you damn well please. Just by looking at your fit pics, I think you would have no problem pulling that off.
Are Missoni made in Italy suits worth picking up? Came across one today but it seemed old or at least the inside size/content tag had almost completely worn out so I passed.
Did come out with a Brooks Brothers Madison made in Italy suit and a couple pairs of Allen Edmonds. Photos later.
Missoni is a flop unless it's a wild, crazy pattern. Didn't see that BB Madison. Must have came out after I left. Did you see those Burberry trenches they had priced at $119? Ridiculous! They are really getting out of hand.
My first thrift fit pic (I was hoping for better, but this will do). From a trip to the Met opera this weekend just before Sandy. I know the pants are a little long and everything's just a little off fit-wise (and wrinkly and misplaced after squirming around for 3 hrs), but I couldn't bring myself to spend money to lengthen the jacket and sleeves as I discovered significant stains on the jacket after I bought it (hence the odd buttoning...). Anyway, way too much explanation.
