I agree, it's definitely a bit too upright. It's also possible that my neck is too short. biggrin.gif

What am I wearing? I am glad you asked. They are only a pair of sweet sealskin boots courtesy of Face of Boh. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Now I just have to figure out what to wear them with. I am thinking dark jeans and a PETA shirt.

Thank you Face of Boh, you are the man.

It may sound obvious, but why let the rest of the seal go to waste? I'm picturing a seal jacket, seal pants and seal gloves. When someone from PETA tries to condemn you, simply shout ARF ARF ARF ARF.

Edited to add: Alternatively, you could bust out Kiss from a Rose. Yeah, they just got served.

I passed a pretty recent iMac today. It was tagged €49 and the employee said that it doesn't work. He didn't know anything more about it and just said that non-functioning items are sold without a warranty. Basically it's a big question mark. It looked to me like it was probably a hotel/company computer, though cosmetically it seemed to be in decent condition.

I've never opened one up, so I don't know how difficult it would be to troubleshoot it. So, is it worth the gamble? I have a Macbook, iPad, iPhone, etc. but I've never opened them up. I understand that they're difficult, but does anyone have any general advice? Is it worthwhile to take a shot at it?

On the iMac, I'd assume whoever donated it got it checked out and decided cost to repair was more than it was worth, but that's just me.

See if you can plug it in and get it to power on. If it won't power on, then I wouldn't touch it. Back in the day I used to find tons of computers that would power on, but would get stuck when going through the boot process. All that took to fix was booting off the install CD and reinstalling the OS.

That was my initial reaction and the main reason I left it. After I left, I couldn't help thinking that a company or hotel just dumped it because they didn't want to mess with the repair and instead got a new one. Not likely, but these are things you think when you walk away from something like that happy.gif

I will get back there Friday and check it out (they're closed tomorrow). If I see it power on, I'll grab it and see what I can do.

Jesus christ, almighty! Seals! Sorry, G, but you'll have to find some sunglasses to pair those with, 'cuz you'se goin' straight to Hades... devil.gif

In other news, I think I happened across six or seven 12" GI Joe figures, but I can't for the life of me get Google to tell me whether they're the desirable 60's kind or the 90's replicas. They certainly look old. The most memorable chap had this sort of blond woolen afro, a corresponding beard, and a blank stare. Anyone in the know, pls help a thrift brutha out.

These boots have already brought so much joy to my life just from the comments in this thread.

But, my wife said I couldn't wear them out of the house. Good thing she isn't with me all of the time.

Probably smart....especially if you live near any polar bears.

I know the originals were 11.5" tall and I THINK the newer ones are 12". I could easily be incorrect.
