According to jefferyd, a fellow SFer who is a fashion designer and a tailor, the cause of divots is the armholes are not cut to the exact shape of the wearer's shoulders. I think in my case, the circumference of the armholes are too small for the size of my shoulders, therefore causing them to stretch and distort thus, elongating the sleeve cap.

In order to remedy this, I'll just have to go with a bigger sized jacket and take it in for a slimmer fit. It all make sense now!
