Ditto. And I saw one once in the window of a jewellery shop on the UWS in NYC. Too much but sparked a memory. But been keeping an eye out ever since.

Wow! This a pure grail find, especially for $25! Absolutely insane! Not an expert as I've never even seen a Leica in person, but it definitely looks older (pre 1965). Looks like it may be from the 50's or older due to the styling and metal lens cap. It's gotta be worth at least $300. Likely worth a lot more. Any model numbers?

"Shite jacket by some awful maker - AVAILABLE"
A true true joke.

I see where you coming from, I agree with a large part of the sentiment. To see a piece of old crap being peddled for near eBay value is one reason why I have become super selective in who I deal with - irrespective of the item and whom posts it. There are quite a few posters here whom have posted nice stuff but I do not bother even initializing contact. I know beforehand it would be a price that goes by the following formula: Best ever eBay price X 90% = price expected. There are some that go by: Price Expected = Best eBay auction final price (after an imaginary / hypothetical 50 way bidding war) + 0.5*eBay final value.

I perfectly understand that there are very few whom would let a NWT Tom Ford suit go for the price of a cheese pizza and a stiff drink. I also expect that a person whom finds such a good item is not going to trade it for a set of venerable shirts with fraying threads and shot to shit collars. That is plain obvious.

I have checked a poster's suit size and a nice item with very different size with word UNAVAILABLE yet junk is AVAILABLE. Yeah thanks for being open to offers or trades - very kind of you.

There is a background element to this thread where a few of us like minded individuals pool together and either heads up trade or pass on at cost or cost + extra with the extra dependent on certain factors. eBay prices are well known here and even though I consider myself generous, I would not pass on a NWT Hermes suit I picked up for 50bucks for 50bucks + postage. There are one or two individuals I would actually do this at cost (friendship being more important that a few bucks), but in most cases I would feel inclined to at least milk a little for what its worth. People I deal with have a great deal of common sense, hence I would get an amount representing the find and the buyer getting a top deal he would not otherwise get. Win Win basically.

Raises questions whether it is ethical to play favorites, but bottom line, we all have our friends and naturally some people we prefer to others. Way it goes....

I don't know a lot about cameras either, but aren't there quite a few fakes of this model out there? Honestly not sure, I just don't remember seeing those colors together. Could mean it's more rare? I hope that's what it means!

That camera is incredible. I couldn't even bring myself to sell it. Congrats dude. guess not frown.gif

That Leica is unfortunately 100% fake. If it works, hey you got a cool camera  for $25, but that is most likely a Russian rangefinder re-badged to look like a Leica.

Huge shout out to 330CK for the amazing hookup on the commando sweater. I love it when a guy under promises and over delivers, thanks!

"no man, when i called your mom a 'cum-guzzling whore' i was using that term in the way that it was used in the 1800's by a small group of tribesmen in Nairobi. to them, it means 'nice lady.' why does everyone think i'm an asshole?" if you wanna be the kind of guy who uses the word "nigger," then fine, but accept that YOU'RE THAT GUY and be a man about it. don't try to hide behind some obscure use of the word. BE A MAN.

as for the other discussion: it'd be nice (to me at least) if this was the BRAGGING thread and not the HERE'S WHAT I'M SELLING ON EBAY NEXT WEEK thread, but this is a marketplace of ideas so whatever. the only thing that annoys me is when "available" really means "available at or near the highest price BIN asking price i found on ebay." if someone wants item X and is willing to pay ebay prices, then THEY CAN GO TO EBAY AND BUY ITEM X FOR EBAY PRICES. the fact that item X is available for ebay prices is a given, even if you hadn't found item X for $5. why bother saying "available"? why not just say "unavailable" and post it to ebay like you were going to do anyways?

EDIT: the point i'm trying to get across is that adding the word "available" doesn't add anything to the conversation, if what you're looking for is ebay prices or anything approaching ebay prices. that item you found is ALWAYS available (on ebay) for ebay prices. you didn't need to tell us that, everyone already knew.

EDIT 2: isn't there already a "What I'm selling on eBay" thread? why isn't that the more appropriate forum for telling the world that the item you found is available on ebay?

EDIT 3: klobber and toscano kinda hinted at this, but all of this YEAH DUDE I FOUND AN OLD ASS TWEED SC, TIME TO GET PAID talk has forced actual trading to go underground. several of us PM each other ALL THE TIME and send each other nice stuff at cost ALL THE TIME. like there's a defined group of dudes. none of us bother posting stuff to the thread. if we're looking to sell it, we sell it directly on ebay. if we're willing to hook other good guys up, we send a PM around to the group. i wish this kind of generosity could be more widespread, but SF has an 8-person limit on group PM's. so yeah.

There are still a few people left that are willing to make deals, but for the most part it's gone. I'm getting so fucking sick of PMing some people (some of whom I have given insane deals in the past) and them quoting me eBay prices, and sometimes more than eBay prices.

ferragamo loafers, 10D

i paid way more than thrift prices for these, but fuck it. they're my size, they're awesome, and i'd been wanting to get some blue suede shoes. plus when i put them on i felt like the prettiest girl in the whole wide world! inlove.gif
