Very good to know, Troika! My LVCs do indeed have the red line selvage as your guideline describes.

Maybe it's my imagination, though, but I'm seeing a faded red line in the auction's selvage... Here's a close-up of that pic:

Note the buttons, the most common numbers are actually 2, 5, & 6 denoting their manufacturing factory.

In addition, I believe that the selvedge line is actually different.

This is the vintage pic from the auction. It is plain and without stitching.

Modern ones looks like this. Pic of LVCs

He has the Bezerk Pack perpetually enabled.

Ok I feel super nerdy saying that!

For those not old enough to remember, it is a reference to that game Doom where the Bezerk pack allowed the said hero to become a nearly invincible punching machine lol8[1].gif.

Damn, Doom was a good game at the time albeit with a nigh on impossible difficulty!

It looks similar to Bostonian but it is hard to be certain. I am by no means as versed in this as the rest of you are as well, so please correct me if I am wrong.

Just a guess, but it appears to be an 'S' at the end of the label, possibly Stacy Adams.
If true, they must be an old vintage pair when they were still quality shoes.
Study the 'S' and its font in the images below for comparison. (right-click - 'open in new window' to see full size images)

Hope this helps.

edit.....wait....there seems to be the letter C or G before the S....oh well.

Picked up some florsheim imperials today... did I strike cordovan? Blacks an odd color, but the valleys check out to me...

I'd be all over these if I hadn't just found the exact same boot (actually 13's) in the same condition last week. Bet you paid a fraction of what I did though.

Actually I was thinking that as a possibility, just waiting to see some more pics.
