I was elated to find this vintage American shearling coat from Gloucester in perfect shape. It's a size small at 42ish and I can be convinced to part with it.

Aside from some really nice shoe scores, I haven't found any of the top names in clothing to flip, let alone as a personal grail for myself. Heck, I'm still looking for a decently constructed core suit (navy/charcoal) to put in my closet, never mind the brand. I donated my old POS, so I have nothing currently. I probably should have waited.



I was going to say "me too", but I don't think I would ever have call for those colors. (And they are too small.)

After an ebay check, it looks like I should have left this first pair ...

 

 

 

 

The tag on the older pair of 7's look good. The style number is printed and not stitched like the rest of the tag. Thats one quick easy way to figure out if you should further inspect.

7's look legit. Don't know about the Lucky Brand jeans, but would anyone really fake either of those brands?

I'll probably redonate the luckys and just say I spent $12 for the 7s instead of the actual $6.

Good additions! I've never seen Boglioli and Sartoria Partenopia or Vass or Marinella. I HAVE found Marcoliani and Pantherellas (new) though at consignment, not thrift. Spoo got some of those, actually, and I have a brown herringbone pair still new with tags that I'm waiting for the perfect fall day to break out.


+100000 - that happens a lot. I gave up ever dreaming of finding a Drakes, bought one on SF... and then within the month I found a Drakes in a thrift. Also, sometimes it isn't all it's cracked up to be - I've definitely grown away from Hermes ties, for example, and while Marinellas are nice (from ebay), they're not quite as special as SF makes them sound, so while a find would be exciting it wouldn't be quite the grail I once thought.

Also, sometimes the best stuff for personal use is what you need - like that Kitchenaid mixer from Goodwill for 10 bucks that we ended up keeping. We had no intention of spending $$$ for one of those and were making do with other things - and then bam. I think there's a few guys in this thread who have complete audio setups founded on this principle.

I fuckin hate the Salvation Army, by the way.

 

Its like they dont give a shit about how beat up something is and still put it on the rack at average prices. Oh...and the chaos on the racks!...fucking kills me. Youll find Tees mixed with Dress Shirts and Shorts mixed with Dress Pants.

 

Ive had some good luck there, but damn, its such a buzz kill imagining that I have to go through every section in the store because they cant keep shit in order.

great question. for me, it's definitely Brunello Cucinelli. i've never seen it in a thrift, only real-life experience has been browsing in Neiman Marcus, drooling over everything. price tags were outta control.

two BC finds in this thread still stick out in my mind:
DM7 found a BC cashmere coat in a medium grey.
33CK found a BC navy jacket IN HIS OWN SIZE in a thrift.

those two brags haunt me. i even remember acosbysweater's post regarding DM7's find, he said "it's so wearable it hurts." (still remember that off the top of my head). like i said, those two brags haunt me.

Yeah, the newer tags are dark brown. Are you picking those up for flipping or personal?

 

I always skip on those jeans. I see like 50 pairs everytime I go out.

 

I dont bother with True Religion or 7 for all Mankind. They seem to have a very high probablity of being fake and the time trying to figure it out isnt very worth it to me.

 

Aside from that, Thrift Stores nowadays think they know their shit because they be pricing them jeans at like $15-$30.

They had these packs at the Pittsford Marshalls from time to time. $10.
