The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3311

Thought some of you might get a kick out of this tune.

I am the most prolific thrift shopper in the rap game right now. What Bob Barker is to the Price Is Right, I am to used fringe jackets. My collection is worth anywhere between $70 and a $100,000,000 depending on who’s appraising it. I’m gonna be honest, if it’s me… I’m going with a million. Count the zero’s. That’s how many fur jackets I have. Tell PETA my Mink, Fox, Rabbit, Coyote, and Hungarian Raccoon jacket are ALL dragging on the floor. And I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. I love my animals. But they’re dead. And they’ve been dead for hella. When I wear them, I’m bringing them back to life and introducing them to a whole new generation who wasn’t around when they were out in the woods doing their thing. Those animals have now migrated from some old lady’s closet, to a thrift shop and are now getting their proper shine, up to 40 years later. It’s recycling. And recycling is beautiful, am I right? That’s what this song is about. – Macklemore

Ran out early this morning to get a sale out to the post office and stopped at the S.A. that's less than 10 blocks from home yet I rarely stop because I never find anything. Changed that today:

TM Lewin 16.5/36 French Cuffs (available)

Filson, RRL, RRL (all Larges, Filson available. RRLs are mine)

Left behind a Harrington jacket (size 44, maker unknown), an old Saks Fifth Ave linen shirt (wearing a little) and wild striped Ted Baker which doesn't appear to really sell on ebay. Weirdly I was totally dreaming of finding something RRL while I was coming up empty handed at 2 stores last night...

A few accessories:

Dunhill belt - Like new....almost too new and think it's fake? Belt quality (to my inexperienced eye) isn't that well made. Anyone seen a fake before?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Stupid pick up - http://www.bkstr.com/ facepalm.gif It is a nice belt though. Prob discard the belt and just keep the brass buckle.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Nothing special, but really like these paisley/repp combo ties and its only a tad over 3" icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Red Dragons? This makes me want a tie with Isaia logos on the front lookaround.gif

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Not my style but ebay cash

Real? Not Real?? puzzled.gif Has the loop and the stitching on the back looks "Hermes" style from what I know, but keep looks off. At $2 wasnt leaving it to chance.

Real, old as hell. Thanks for the pants by the way!

Great finds everybody! It seems to be raining Hermes and Brioni lately!

All I picked up today was three pair of Brooks Brothers khakis, a Brooks Brothers corduroy pant, two nice BB paisley ties in great fall colors, and a pair of Selvedge Khaki by Lincs DC & Company.

Thanks for the sunglasses! Good trade. And thanks for the confirmation. Thought it was real just looked a tad odd.

Hermes Tie - Available

Nice finds!

Since you posted an Hermes, it's time for a story. I work in the air cargo industry, and there was a huuuge conference in Atlanta two weeks ago. I ran into the head of Airbus, tried to ask him some questions about something controversial, and got a very nice European "no comment." But I did notice his tie, which was a tiny repeating pattern of a squirrel. I complimented him on his tie, which I knew was probably a Hermes, and he said something like "Well, I have to represent my home country manufacturing base," as he flipped over the tie to show me the label. French people! He said it was a present from his mom, if I remember correctly, and I'm like "Dude, you're pretty high up in one of THE two airplane manufacturers; it's OK for you to spend money on nice clothing." I didn't actually say that.

Sorry for the digression. Nice pickups. The Hermes is a little eccentric for my taste, though.
