The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3256

Any of you guys familiar with Brooks Brothers Custom Tailored? Ran into a gray pinstripe suit today, made in America in 2009. The tag in the pocket read 51, not sure if this is American or European sizing. Worth going back for?

EDIT: Nevermind, obvious answer is obvious

Quick question. Would you kop a Brioni tie for $60 at TJ Maxx? I saw Tben bought Drakes for that.

I picked these up because they were in great shape and fit pretty good. But where exactly does this label fit into the Cheaney brand? Google wasn't much help.uhoh.gif

Tben bought a navy grenadine Drake for that. Personally, I wouldn't pay that for a green paisley Brioni, and I like green, paisely, and Brioni.

-- If it's for you, yes. If you're selling it here, no. If you're selling on eBay, I dunno.

-- Concealed, do Charles T. and Thomas P. count?

-- Anyone know of a London bespoker-ish suit chap with the last name of Castle? Any good?

-- I could maybe grab a Lands End Harris Tweed 46L if anyone's interested.

-- I was sure I'd found a Band of Outsiders SC 'til I peeked inside -- kid's suit.

Anth - I picked up a pair of "Royal Windsor" by Grenson oxfords with the 29.99 JC Penney sale tag in the insole. Normal Grenson sole but leather feels inferior. I would guess Royal Tweed is a similar diffusion line.

Quick half price stop today. Everything is available

In NYC I can get my pick of the litter of Brioni ties for $80

If it is for personal use I may kop at $60, but it won't flip anywhere. You can grab a ton of Brioni for less than $60 at Last Call, and they have coupon sales and such often. The ties that I purchased were Grenadine as well. There is only one other company I know that you can purchase a Grenadine cheaper than what I payed and I am pretty sure the original tag from the store they were from read $185 for each of them.

I can normally just spot them; the denim is generally darker and the quality higher. After all, most of the denim you find in thrifts is cheap worn out dad denim. You can also spot them based on brands which, of course, can easily be identified by scanning waistbands. The tags for these normally really set themselves apart from the normal junk.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I passed on the Brioni.
I have to say that I'm surprised by the sudden influx of high-end stuff at TJ Maxx lately, and not just at the high-rent locations. Saw Zegna shirts, Corneliani jackets, Versace jeans.

Always baking soda for colors. If I'm set up with baking soda and there's one white shirt in the pile, it gets soda too. I've done oxyclean on colored collars with no ill effects, but I've also done it and bleached some color out. YMMV
