Can I make this work, a la Spoo? Or is a black jacket to be shunned, no exceptions?

Vintage Brooks Brothers varsity jacket, M (available). I picked up the exact same model last year.

I would totally rock that black Isaia with some grey pants. Here, send them to me and I'll post some thrift fit pics for you! mwink[1].gif

Man, that BB varsity is the shits!

I never understand the L on these dress shirts, L presumably meaning Long. A Charvet shirt I had to let go was a 17.5L, but those sleeves were anything but long. Is the L then meaning large? Only problem is that Charvet was not particularly large, measuring out to a fairly normal fitting shirt.
Does 18L mean 18 Large fit, i.e. for big fat dude rather than a trim well heeled tall Adonis?

Well, I haven't measured it yet, but the tag says "18 LNG" so I assume it's long. PM me if you're interested and I can get you the actual measurements.

It probably won't get love here but I liked it. A Chinese made Theory jacket. Patch pockets and it fits well untailored.

Nice haul! Glad to see your thrifting here in the states has been productive! One of my favorite things that I have found for myself was a staple navy Theory suit, it fit perfectly without tailoring.

If anyone here is a 10 C/E in Aldens, is looking for some minty black Alden wingtips and has some size 13 Aldens to trade, I posted some pics in the thrift trade thread...

Hate when that happens. I've done the exact same thing with an Oxxford suit. #facepalm

Haven't posted in a while...been pretty dry but here's a few things from the past 3-4 weeks:

For me

BB, BB, Paul Smith, HSM (which I usually pass on, but this is a super nice tie, made in Italy)
Butt ugly Brioni, RLPL, Burberry made in England, Trussardi (not familiar with them...any info?) and Ferragamo

Borrelli Shirt, Pendleton Cashmere sweater, Zegna Cashmere, 2 no-name squares

Available:
Aquascutum made in England jacket. Not sized, but probably best for a 42

J Press Dinner Jacket 42L, BB NWT Silk/Cotton St. Andrews Sweater M, Trafalgar western themed braces

Church's Henley 9.5C (UK size...about a 10 narrow) with box. Really nice shape

HF 48R

Never heard of the maker...Sartoria Italiana...but a really sweet linen pinstripe suit. Made in Italy, double vented, flat front. About a 42R

Hope it's picking up for everybody else.

+1. if you pass and it's a 38R, I'm listening...

Picked up this sweet Lebowski type sweater yesterday. No tags anywhere or marks where one would have been, so possibly handmade.

That Linen pinstripe is sweet. Probably enough to make me reconsider my no pinstripes rule. No hate for pinstripes, I just think there are limts to how far down the banker look path you can go and still teach humanities classes.

Speaking of which, my first thrift fit pic: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
A bit limited - I'm not set up to take full body shots for actual fit comments, let alone Dig style action shots. Just basic color combo recording here.
Nothing special:
Austin Reed Tweed
shirt - Nordstrom house brand
tie - no tags wool knit
square - no name, cream silk
photo-54.jpg
OK, on reviewing the preview, it looks like I just photoshopped out a region above my pocket. I swear, I am really wearing a square, and it is NOT white. The ipod must have chosen it for white balance.

Here's the crazy thing - my students liked my knit tie but (with a couple of exceptions) had never even heard of such a thing as a knit tie. Really, have we come to this?
