I picked up a similar Pendleton a couple days ago, just a different color (and 42).

Indeed. I watched a Loro Piana men's coat (the $$$$ private label Loro Piana) get snatched up literally 8 inches from my by an aggressive, bovine shaped flipper woman a month or so ago. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I would have much rather not known about what I had missed, nor how close I was to having it. If I would have been a second or two quicker.....

 

I saw a similar one posted recently (not sure if it was yours), and I was jealous...then LO I find one of my own.  Love me some Pendleton, especially American-made.

(Probably also shouldn't mention the 2500 rolls of undeveloped film, 6500 rolls of developed but not proofed exposures, and 3000 rolls of proofed but not printed exposures found at Winogrand's death. Though this makes me feel better about the backlog of Harris Tweed I need to photograph and list.)

I didn't get around to posting it yet. I grabbed it because I've seen Pendleton mentioned a few times in this thread, so I probably saw that same one you are talking about and it stuck.

Erroneous. The "anxiety" you were talking about is called "opportunity cost" by behavioral psychologists. I't's literally caused by what we don't know. So in a very real way, what we don't know is hurting us every day.

Home repairs all day. Only chance to hit a store today was a Will on the way to the Home Depot at 20 mins before closing. Nothing bragworthy, but one thing frustrating: Grabbed a XXL Vineyard Vines light blue gingham shirt; figured someone here would pick it up. Got it home and noticed the MASSIVE monogram on the cuff.

Yeah, I know; I've gotten after monograms with seam rippers. This one reads: "Pernod Ricard USA Wine & Champagne" with a logo. So.... Within an hour or two I should have a brand new cotton gingham pocket square with hand-rolled edges and contrasting red stitching.

On the upside, Savers is opening in my area in just 2 weeks!

I realize how snooty I've gotten when I leave a brand new Corneliani linen shirt because it doesn't have MoP buttons. It didn't fit me and cash flow is tight right now. Putting up 51 items starting tomorrow at 5 pm and am very excited to have money for vacation.

Snooty is an understatement Wish I had used Corneliani shirts falling in my lap....

Oh yeah: Swapmeeted an early 1900 arts and crafts chest of drawers. Not Stickley or anything decent, but looks great in my room and actually holds all my ties! Solid oak top, legs and drawer fronts with dovetail joints. Hard to beat that.

I'm going to try to catch up on everything, but I haven't made it through all of the posts yet. I am now in the US and I'm just starting to hit the thrifts. It's been a crazy week, so I wanted to let everyone know that I will catch up on PMs. All of my trades were shipped out on Tuesday after I arrived, except FaceofBoh (really sorry!), they're going out tomorrow.

First time going to thrift stores in the US and it's really overwhelming. I've realized a couple of things:

1. I see a lot of things pop up here and now that I'm seeing them for the first time (think American brands), I don't know whether you guys or anyone else would want them. I'm leaving most of it, but still cool to see.

2. My wife is more patient than I ever gave her credit.

3. Selection is huge which is incredibly fun. The amount of torn, stained and dated clothing is outstanding, which isn't so much fun.

4. I could probably come back 4 times a year just to check out the stores. Tons of stuff to be found.

5. I don't have a means of transferring photos from my camera onto my laptop at the moment. I left my iPad cable at the last hotel. I'm stuck transferring terrible photos from my phone. Apologies.

Anyway, here is some of the stuff I've picked up. I know that a lot isn't great and I took some gambles, but I'll be honest: the prices were too good to pass on it. Unless noted, it's available. I don't have exact measurements yet.

Wool Pea Coat, assuming it's US Navy from 1963. It's absolutely the heaviest pea coat I've ever held. It's a 38, but too big for me. Surely someone wants/needs it.

Can someone fill me in on this? It's a US navy double breasted wool trench from 1945. I don't know the rank before the name, maybe someone here has an idea. It's missing the belt but looks to be in great condition and I thought it was really interesting. I would think this would be desirable, but am I wrong?

I picked this up in Austria and it didn't work for my father. It's a Pringle sweater with the crest for the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. Someone here can have it for cost and shipping. Great condition. Size Mish.
