Made a moderately nice score at Nordstrom Rack on some pants: 2 pair Riviera wool unhemmed brown plaid trousers, $52 each; 1 pair Berle wool unhummed brown trousers, $38.98; and 1 pair Santorelli silk/linen unhemmed light blue trousers $34.98. Woot on that last one! If only there was a "folded-up trousers pr0n" thread

Yeah,

Sometimes searching out waylayed pants gets you a better deal too. The Goodwill near me sells jackets for around 13 bucks, but if they have the matching pants, the price will go up to 40-50 bucks.

I picked up three Oxxford suit jackets and am still waiting for the pants to show up.

What I really hate, though is when the pants get 'lost' after the fact. e.g. Goodwill originally had the matching set and priced, and marked, it as such, but some dork lost the pants, maybe trying it on or something. That happened to me this weekend--I looked for a 1/2 hour, even in the ladies section.

Dang.

cheers

I found two things at the thrift today and I wanted to know what you think.

The first is a Christian Dior silk/wool sportcoat that is dark navy with chalk stripes. I measured 20" shoulders, 35" sleeves, and 30" length from the bottom of the collar.

Here are some pics:

The second item is a Christian Dior (I think?) wool camel peacoat. The size says 42L, I measured the shoulders to be 20," the sleeves to be 36," the length is 35" measured from the top of the collar.

I can't tell if it's really christian dior because there is a tag at the bottom that says: "Tailored by Gleneagles" and another that says "Manufactured in the United States of America" right next to the extra buttons.

Here are the pics:

Sorry, all the old Dior stuff is, like another said, a dime a dozen. Not at all exclusive like the current stuff.

Thank you both.

At $2 each, I'm not too disappointed.

I don't think Goodwill ever purposely separates the jacket from the matching pants - they'll keep suits together. But a lot of odd suit jackets make it to Goodwill but the matching pants are just too worn to even donate... that's why you should always buy two pairs of pants when you get a suit.

That's it though laziness with keeping suits together and often store policy of "just sell 'em anyway" rules. Often on paulfrederick you see nice suit jackets but the pants are not available in any regular size. This is the alternative to the amerikajinda situation where the smart guys buy two pair of pants at the one time (to avoid the above orphan problem) and deplete the stock for schmucks like me that come late.

My latest score in the thrifting stakes was a very nice Harris Tweed jacket (generous 42R) in one of those wonderful "never to be found again" 60s patterns with mad men lapels...nice item AUD20 reduced for sale from AUD40.

Anyhow, back on track...

Anyone have an experience with thrift shops in the Bradenton/Anna Maria Island area?

This is the first time fonding Charvet for me, and one of them has some wear on the cuff.

There was though some great BB jackets put the pants were AWOL and I'll be damned if I buy anymore orphaned jackets.

I dont understand why . . . 10 years ago, Goodwill was almost all suits and no blazers/orphaned jackets. Now it's drastically the other way 'round.
