The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3037

Bizarre - not a single thrift around here takes returns / exchanges for credit...nothing. All sales final. Wish they did, and I wouldn't spend so much time poring over each piece looking for condition issues while still in the store.
I agree! However, my biggest peeve is seeing outdated "Burberry's" clothing and "Christian Dior Monsieur" licensed crap. Honestly, I loved seeing DarkMatter, Mainy and Kobbler's posts because they posted amazing QUALITY clothing vs. "cool looking" items. I know this thread is about diverse interests, but seeing the same type of crap clothing (LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, Hunt Club) I have to rummage through to find quality items that show up in this thread is getting ridiculous.
Heh. Nice, and very probable.
Oh jeesh. Way to up the creepy factor.
Not like that around here....
A typical dialogue between me and my wife, it is 8:30am in the morning.
Wife: "Whats taking you so long in there, lets go!"
Me: "I got to get that turtle out"
Wife: "Well the Gas station has a nice restroom"
Me: "You need to ask for a fucking key to get in"
Bottom line, if you need a pee or a dump around here, better take care of business at home otherwise you will regret it. Even if your partner is jumping around the spot trying to hurry you up.
My worst is when I am in that inbetween phase, I should do a dump but could hold out for an hour or two. In the past, when I ignored it, I would be stuck in a thrift store needing an uber urgent dump. Fart smells clear racks but it aint no fun flipping through clothes clenching your butt cheeks.
On longer thrift outings, I also take great care to drink less fluids.
Oh yeah, most thrift stores have a staff toilet. In absolute emergencies, I have snuck around the back to use em.
I have once taken a pee in a back alley behind a Goodwill when I could not find a restroom, people walking by on the street thinking I was a hobo. But when I need to go, I need to go...............
I stopped by a salvo I had never even known existed before yesterday and picked this up. From what I gathered, its made by the Bavarian tailor Regent, and boy is it nice. Fully canvased, TONS of handwork, about the same level as Oxxford, perhaps even more. Double vented, as well. Its tagged as a 46L but it fits like a (slightly tight) 44R. It fits a bit on the tight side, but I'm honestly considering losing a few pounds to fit it better, it really is just that nice. Possibly available for the right offer. Apologies in advance for the awful phone pictures.
There was also a tuxedo shirt (size 17/43 or something along those lines - kinda big) made by "G. George Shirtmakers". Wide spread collar, excellent fabric, french cuff, and the buttons were all shanked smoked MOP studs. A beautiful shirt, but a google search yielded absolutely nothing, and I had no actual use for a tux shirt so I left it. If anyone is interested, I can stop by there sometime soon and pick it up if its still there.
No big deal here, but a clean First Edition (again, no big whoop) of Blind Side without the shitty movie cover. I've been casually searching for one of these for a while, and Goodwill has obliged for $1.25. Moneyball the book was fascinating (both movies are, of course, terrible compared to the books), and if Blind Side gets to the nitty gritty of the sport as much as that did, I'll enjoy this read.
Question: Donna Karan Signature made in Italy is a no-go, yes?
A couple vintage bows, one with cherry's, one black, and a Vineyard Vines shell pattern (should cover the cost of this trip)
And some (gasp!) records. Smokey Robinson, The Chi-Lites, Marvin Gaye, Teddy P.
The only thing available is the VV tie.
