Missing the pants and it really didn't seem in that great of shape. Really wish the GW's here would make more of an effort to keep suits togther.

And make sure to take posts by people like manofstyle85 with a grain of salt. Otherwise, you'll get mad everytime you go thrifting and don't come back with a Kiton or RLPL.

Oh come on, it's not always that great for me. No kiton yet for me, hold that thought I found a Kiton Shirt a couple of months back.

This thread's due for a revolution: guys who can't find anything vs. guys who find $10K worth of clothes/day...for $50--and then flip them at a price that the former posters can't afford. I guess lurkers should realize that there are a few pro. flippers on this thread; if you never in your life find a Brioni shirt for $2--or anything less than retail--there's a pretty good reason. But, if you ever find one with a 16-16.5 neck, for the love of god, help me out.

i think i fall into the 'pro flipper' category, but in reality, this is all luck. you can increase your chances by going to stores more often, but above all else it is sheer unadulterated LUCK. i find more good stuff because i spend hours and hours more looking for it than 99% of people. yet ask alan - he still finds great stuff (we both live in the same metro area) all the time. simply because it is a matter of when you hit the store, and have they put out anything worth a damn that day.

a good example: i went through 15 (!!) brand new rolling racks of mens clothing yesterday (stuff that hadn't been hung up in the store yet), and found absolutely nothing :brick: yet, somebody might have gone to that same store today and found some killer stuff they just got in today.

also, pro tip: if the store has dressing rooms, and go back racks next to the dressing room, always look through this stuff!!! i find so much good stuff that people have grabbed, tried on, had it not fit and then just dumped it on the go back rack. if you aren't looking through these, you are missing out

^^ +1. What you find all amounts to how much time you invest and if you have good timing/luck. The more time you spend, the more of a chance you'll be in the right place at the right time. The Barbour I found was all about timing. I was eyeing the rack through the doors to the back room and waited for it to come out. Pounced on it as it hit the floor, just before 3 other people jumped into it.

Today I met up with member Achilles who was in town. We hit up four stores but only lucked out at two. Had a good time, though. It was nice meeting up with you again, Chris!

He found me a gorgeous NWT Southwick sportcoat that fits me well. I like the pattern but not so sure the colors work on me. Regardless, it was an awesome find - thanks again! :)

Also scored this wild Dolcepunta tie.

don't you have a crap load of Zegna shirts? For me a $350 retail dress shirt is just as good as a $500 one.

This is a bragging thread. You're seeing people's best stuff every day. We all get pangs of jealousy at the stuff posted here. But when I look at my closet after seven years of thrifting, I've got no room to complain.

And mainy is right about timing. He hits the stores a lot more regularly than I do, but I stumbled across my best thrift haul ever a few weeks ago with that Venanzi find. It was a shop I had never been to in a part of town I never go. I've tried the same store twice since then with only a couple of average finds. The key is just keep going back.

Also today..not clothing but I found a Prince Graphite oversize tennis racket with the new cosmetics for $6.00. Retail new is $129.00.A few nicks but in very usable condition. I used to use these when I played in college (old graphics obviously) so I'm hanging onto it.

What size is most common on the menswear side of SF? Sometimes i find some nice suits but don't buy mostly because they're not my size, usually only keep streetwear stuff... So i would flip it here to pass on a good deal :)
