Today's thrift fit pic. I owed this one to Andro for a while now. Thanks duder!

2 things I knew after taking these:

1) I had to pull up my pants. (They fit, but I've been losing some weight, so up they go)
2) My lips are sumptuous. Hide the women.

Suit is a charcoal HF in Loro Piana Super 130s from Andro
Tie is a silver/blue houndstooth BB Makers from the 90's or something. One of my favorite ties.
Shoes are AE something. Oxfords with little broguing. Grabbed them from Nordstrom Rack when I started my job (moneymoneymoney)

I will say this for the Monsignor stuff- if anyone sees a suit in 36S that's not horribly dated, pick it up and send it my way. I have one, and I actually quite like it. It's not the world's greatest suit, but the jacket is nicely shaped and the fabric is attractive.

The thrifting value of one pair of pants is inversely proportional to the number of times "Made In Italy" appears on the waistband.
Divide this value by pi if instead they read "Designed in Italy"

My wife just rolls her eyes when I do this, the few times she ventures in with me. Usually she'll sit out in the car and read or drive to the fabric/craft store which is nearby.

Things happened today pretty unexpectedly. I slept in until 10:30. It was nice out and my area was having their annual garage sale day. I hopped on my bike and off I went. 8th or so sale of the day had what looked to be a very nice stereo system. As I walked up the driveway I could see it better and my heart skipped a beat when I saw what it was up close. Guy bought it brand new and took amazing care of it. Has the original remote, cords, etc. Talked him down from $150 to $100. A good deal in my book. Went back later with the car and now it's partially set-up in the record room. Now to see what I want to do with it. I have yet to hear it - I need to clean it up a bit first. How this thing lasted there till noon-ish is beyond me. The sales all opened around 8 am. Anyone know what this thing is worth with the stands, speakers, etc?

Frenchy/Vallum, this is for you if you're watching.

I'm a happy camper at this point. My local thrift is about a half mile away so I bike over. Found a gorgeous recent side-vented Burberry London suit but it looks like a tiger shredded the jacket to bits. Sad. Shirts were another story, though.

Vintage 40's-50's Pilgrim plaid shirt. Not sure what the deal is with the "Junior" as this thing fits me and I'm a solid Large in most things. Might see what it gets on the bay. If nothing, I'll rock it as is. Has amazing patina and has most of the original 2-hole buttons (cuffs and collar button have been replaced at some point). Available

I talked to the manager (a really cool guy) about the shirts who checked to see if there were any more in back. There wasn't. frown.gif

I guess another guy bought some NWT (from Neiman Marcus, so probably easy to spot for the average person) ones either earlier today or yesterday and inquired about them as well. Wonder what I missed....

Just a couple of items for me this week. First were these B. Magli captoes. I see a lot of Maglis with cheap rubber soles or those one piece heel/sole rubber combo jobs. But these are nicer. They are welted and the soles are leather. This pix is from the back of the car and I DID get home in put them in shoe trees. Not available.

And, this E. Zegna green turquoise aqua L/S shirt. Tagged XL Has big ass MOP buttons and the hidden button down action in the collar. Wish it fit me. Available.
ezegs.jpg
Passed on a moth ridden WW Chan SC, 2-3 dbl pleated zanellas (I’m no longer picking up pleated Zanellas; have at ‘em Sopranos fans), and an orphan striped zegna coat.

If I have a week where I don't find anything to post here, I'll do a thrift fit pix. tongue.gif

Went back today, a bunch of those Charles T. shirts were gone. Definitely have found a nice spot though, didn't have much time at lunch but there was a nice Burberry London tie, some new higher end suits, a Canali SC and some other things I had to pass on. Broke until next week so I can only really proxy cheap things or things I get lucky on for you guys, but once I'm good I'm pretty sure i've found a treasure trove for you 16-17 guys / 42/44 guys out there.

Did pick up one thing though, couldn't leave it behind as I've needed a button up Cardigan for fucking ever. Fits me pretty amazingly and is definitely pretty nice quality, but I can't place the maker. I wanna say it's a J. Lindenberg as I've got two of their shirts and an SC and it looks kind of like a similar label, but at the same time it's usually JL not just a backwards L. Anyone know? And yea, I'm 99.999% sure the buttons are real wood as well.

Thanks for the clarification. I was hesitant at first to buy it but the design was too cool to pass. No more posting pics of brands that have licensed their names on scout's honor!

This definitely isn't a Lindenberg. They never have backwards L's. Damn now I really want to know as I'm falling in love with this thing more and more by the minute.

This also reminds me, a while back I posted this coat and couldn't figure out what it was. Turns out it's J. Crew, saw a nearly identical peacoat but shorter a few months ago with the same chain and it was actually labeled, so in case anyone ever stumbles across something like this you know: (It's about a 36 so I'm assuming they were Euro sized or MIL)

Today's thrift fit... Been trying to find the bathroom empty all afternoon! One time there was a guy in there in the ugliest polo I've ever seen, ill-fitting baggy chinos, and Vibram Five-Finger shoes. At work. WTF?

Recent finds. Nothing earth shattering, but all nice and all available. Sorry for the shitty pictures, the sun ain't cooperating today.

Very recent Gant Rugger Hugger Fit Indian Madras shirt. Size L. perfect condition except for some issues in the armpit (pictured). Could be pretty easily fixed, I think. Not visible.

Polo custom fit. Size L. Perfect condition.

Facconable 5 pocket jean-style trousers. Tagged a 38, but measure out to a 35 x 32. Really nice pants, trim fit. made in Portugal - construction and some of the details remind me a lot of the EZ/Inco stuff made in Portugal - not sure if there is a connection.

Filson cotton plaid shirt. Size L. Nice pattern, only flaw is a that the breast pocket button is chipped.

Recent JCrew cord blazer. Size L. Seems to be NWOT (albeit wrinkled to all hell)...all pockets are basted shut, buttons still in them, etc. Color is grey.
