My first Brioni! I found this wonderful tobacco-coloured Brioni summer jacket in 40R, made for A. Ugolini & Sons, Florence, with three patch pockets, no vents, lined and fully canvassed, tonnes of handwork everywhere, the characteristic Brioni roped shoulders, interesting Brioni buttons, working cuffs, and wonderfully handsewn buttonholes. Ah, those delicious, raised, shiny sleek buttonholes! Such a delight to run your finger over them, not to be too creepy . The thing is wonderful and available for cheap for the denizens of this thread .

New member here, [currently] in the Atlanta area.  Have very recently started hitting the resale shops for men's clothes - some for me, mostly to flip.  My best to date was a shirt purchased for $2.50, sold for $150.00.  It was a Shag-designed limited edition made for Disneyland.  Otherwise I've been picking up mainly sport coats and blazers but have yet to really list anything on eBay.  I started out with vinyl records in the 90's and 00's, which sort of dried up so I moved on to other things.  These days it's mostly rugs, vintage stereo speakers and the occasional odd and end...and now clothing.  I've always been into vintage, just getting my feet wet with more current stuff.  I'm approaching this the same way I did everything else - see what sells, try to make a few dollars, and whatever doesn't sell either keep or donate back into the pool. 

 

Question for y'all: do people buy clothing on eBay "for parts or repair", like they do, say, electronics and whatnot?  I ask because I picked up an Oxxford pure escorial sport coat this past weekend, which has 3 spots on it, and have already dropped it off at a local specialist cleaner to see if they can get the spots out (one on the collar, and two on the lower edge of the back).  If the collar spot comes out and the other 2 don't, I figure someone might buy it anyway to shorten about an inch (to get rid of the material with the 2 spots on the bottom back) and have a perfectly good escoarial sport coat.  It has the date & customer name tag in it - from 2005 - and my limited research tells me the original MSRP was about $3300...so the material alone has to be worth something, I would think.

 

Well, here's hoping for the best case scenario and all the spots come out.  On the same trip I picked up a Halston tux jacket, a Lagerfeld, a Lauren by RL, and a few others - Marc Jacobs and so on...

Hah, yes another one.  I'm far north - no worries.  I rarely if ever get into the city proper, and work thrifting into weekend trips / vacations so much of it is out of town.

XENOS- Good job on that NWT Zegna Couture! Actually all those ties are great.

People might buy clothes for repair on eBay, but they have to be very desirable. As a general rule, Oxxford isn't. Exceptional quality, but too dowdy.

I went to a Buffalo Exchange and 2 other spots yesterday.  The following is tentatively unavailable until I figure out exactly what I'm dealing with here.  These are the highlights:

• BNWT Uniqlo Regular Fit Straight S002 Jeans 30 x 32.  (Buffalo Exchange.)
• Rag & Bone 100% cotton gray t-shirt M (not pictured because I'm wearing it, lol).  (Buffalo Exchange.)
• Jil Sander White Button Up Dress Shirt EUR 44 / US 17.  (Thrift Store.)
• Miu Miu wool / mohair black trousers 32 x 32.  (Thrift Store.)
• Marc Jacobs jeans 32 x 38.  These seem to be BNWOT?  There is no creasing, stretching, or any other evidence of ever being worn.  They are unhemmed and the ankles don't have any evidence of ever being cuffed.  And I've never seen anyone with a 32 inch waist and 38 inch inseam.    (Thrift Store.) 

 

 

 

^^^ I know next to nothing about denim.  I just happened to be walking down the jeans aisle at a thrift store and spotted them because they were so dark.  Do any of you guys know anything about them?  Good pick up or not so good?

^^^ These past two weeks have been monster weeks (for my little hobby, anyway) on both eBay & Etsy.  Thanks in no small part to the guys over at PutthisOn.com, I was able to buy this for my wife.  It's a luxury item that isn't something that we would normally include in our budget, but she had been wanting something like it for a while and it kind of came at a good time.  The best part is that I was able to purchase / trade for it at a consignment shop near our place.  The previous owner had purchased it new at the LV boutique in the Pru, but didn't like it because it was the 55" (or 60" - I dunno about these things) Keepall model without a shoulder strap.  So it was more or less like new AND I was able to use the significant balance of a trade card that we had been adding to for a couple of years.  I took it to the LV boutique the previous owner said she bought it from to get replacement keys for the lock and they gladly obliged (so I'm pretty sure it's genuine or they probably would have told me to take a hike).

Are the MJs selvedge? If so, I think they retail for like $250 and are mid-range premium jeans.
