Jeez, he hasn't responded all day. I sure hope he was joking about cutting up a beautiful Barbour. If he wasn't, I'm going to go ram my head against a brick wall.

The lid is there behind it. No way to test it and I don't know anything about this stuff. I thought about getting it anyway since it would only be like $3, but I don't have the space. Good? Bad?

Good pass. You'll be able to tell a good one when you see it. Most of the stand up ones are pretty nice, the one you have were pretty basic consumer models and they were played laying flat.

This is a good example of a good one to pick up, even if they want $100 for it.

Pioneer RT-909. Sold a working one for $700+ and a non-working one for parts for $300. That was both in one year. It's been about 4 years since I've seen one.

Can't really search completed ebay listings when I don't even know what I should be checking for. I know someone posted something about looking for danish stamped furniture, but i'd like a bit more info than that. One thing I can't stand is thinking I may be passing up valuable stuff due to ignorance. (A drakes tie haunts my nightmares.)

It's hard to figure out but all I can really say is to go off of feel. Any amps that have tubes are probably worth money. Heathkit and all those. Any Marantz, old Pioneer, Technics by Panasonic, etc. Cassette decks are pretty much worthless unless it's a very high-end deck with a lot of controls. Of course newer high-end audio gear is easy to spot, but you'd be hard pressed to find any. I've never found any super high-end audio (McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Carver, Conrad Johnson, etc). The heavier the better.

Anyone interested in this PRL jacket? Picked it up for myself, but it is just a touch too small. Outside is 100% nylon, very thick with a rubbery feel. Inside is 100% cotton, heather grey sweatshirt-like material. My guess is that it is waterproof. Very nice, spring/fall jacket. Bomber/harrington style, 4 front pockets. Is in basically new condition (bit wrinkled from storage). Trim fitting M.

Any RG shirt with the embroidered Robert Graham label will get an easy $20. It's the ones with the plain blue fabric label or the "RG" shirts that I can't seem to move for even $10 so I've stopped grabbing those long ago.

Did you notice the damage to the shirt though? And the hack repair job someone already tried.... I wouldn't have bought it if I had taken time to inspect it and not been so star-struck by the name on the label.

Yep. Still doesn't surprise me. Someone paid $50 for this shirt I sold on Sunday with a chewed up collar. Hasn't paid yet, though.

can i throw in my 1/50th of a dollar too?

cost vs value vs perceived value vs sale price

The first, cost, is largely immaterial... if i buy item a at shop x it costs $8 if i buy it at shop y it costs $35... its value comes to me from either buying it for myself, or buying it to sell or trade... the perceived value is what i think its worth. if its worth $25 then i could but it from x but not y or i'd lose money... now if i post somethinv for sale, i'm going to post it at what i think it's worth, does that mean i'll get it? nope... but if someone has a thrifted item they perceive the value of as about the same, everyone is happy with the trade... right?

but what if the item wasnt thrifted, does that mean my $1200 sports coat is worth more? or is it only worth the perceived value?

for me the answer to the problem is trades... and thanks goes out to those folks who have or are working on trades to upgrade my wardrobe at the moment... smile.gif

Nice. I'm still shocked. The shirt is unwearable without a trip to a tailor, and even then it won't be 100%. Not going to complain though, as long as they pay, I don't really care.

Want to take a nap but desperately hoping horse's_ass will reply to me soon frown.gif

I contacted him about the jacket. He feels it's not fashion forward and does not command a high price...thus is leery to sell it. Understandable.....but as an owner of a Beaufort already, I know what I'm getting.

Kudos to 951 though for wanting to feel good about what he passes on.

He shouldn't make assumptions like that. What if it was a tumor? Cracking boners about other people's health... cough.

In my best Arnold: "It's not a tumor."

confused.gif That doesn't mean someone else wouldn't want it though. I don't get the hype with Bills Khakis. They're baggy, unflattering, cheap at MSRP and barely sell used for over $20 each, even for flat fronts. Still, I don't turn them into car washing rags if I know people would want them.

With that said, I do hope you're rescuing it.
