would you care to share this spot?

It was in Boca Raton, i think someone died. I gave up on that spot because it was not working for me, I guess that day was my luck.

Is it just me or is it really difficult to find something nice in thrift shop closer to the wealthier neighborhoods?

Pretty decent night for ties. Found a handful of PRL ties, a couple Hermes ties and a Vineyard Vines tie that was pretty cool.

I did some searching but couldnt find a thing. I came across about 15 or so "Brothers" ties. The tag simply said "Brothers Hand Made" and nothing else. Anyone heard of them??

That's a harsh response to an harmless question. Would you give the same answer if I were to ask whereabouts of the best tailors in a particular State or which boutique is having sales right now? I hope not.
I didn't mean to come across as harsh. If I did, then I already apologized in the post. I'm just saying, do some research. Nobody usually gives up their hot spot that it took them a long time to find. Others will agree, when asking where the best tailor is compared to the best thrift ship that inconstantly puts out good stuff is comparing apples and oranges.

The problem is--as terrible as this sounds--is that you're really waiting for the right person to die...and you're hoping to get to the store at exactly the right time. I've only been thrifting for three months, but my best find was in a nice part of a really high-income-type town. A wealthy man had died and someone in his family donated all of his shoes. He had three pairs of J.M. Westons--cordovan loafers, black monk-strap wingtips, and brown derbies. All original soles, etc. AND the thrift was selling them, with Weston shoe trees, for around $10/pair. I bought the loafers on a Friday, but all three pairs were out. I just didn't know enough to buy them. I went back a week later, and they were still there. But by that time someone else had walked off with a pair of plain-toes that, had I been smart enough to buy them, would've been gone. So, basically, some guy who needed only one pair of shoes liked the Oxfords. Had he liked the Bostonians that were on the shelf, I'd have four Westons right now.

Same deal with thrifts in the absolute poorest parts of town. The only reason that I own a Samuelsohn tuxedo is because someone died, leaving five Sammy suits and a tux, and I got to the store first.

I guess it's kind of balanced in that, in wealtheir neighbourhoods, no one wants to wear used clothes. And in poorer neighbourhoods people don't wear a lot of Tom Ford ties--and probably wouldn't know enough to buy them to flip.

Also, if I ever find 23 Hermes ties, I'm giving them away to the posters on this thread.

You know, I don't even have to wear ties for work anymore, so the idea that I've accumulated so many is kind of ridiculous. On the other hand, when I do need to wear a tie, I like being able to make the perfect choice from hundreds of ties.

Hundreds of ties and you don't even wear them for work? That is crazy. I'll give them a nice home and the chance to be seen in public. PM sent.

Just don't go thrifting in Tamarac or Hollywood (where my grandparents live) unless you like Dockers and cotton-poly. blends.

lol. I live in a city between the 2. I can say you are right, but i do find some good stuff... you just have to look much harder/more frequent.

Sweet deal on shoes! My hermes are all gone now, i don't care too much for the soft silk fabric. Oh, I also got a brand new Italo Ferreti (lavender).

I only conclude that someone may have died, because the hermes, charvet and versace look like they are from the same collection. I have been thrifting for almost a year now and 90% of my killer findings are from the poorest part of town.

Oh yeah. I was also sort of stoked to find what may be a bespoke jacket that fits (I think). Working buttons, no tags whatsoever...but the buttons are just the regular plastic kind and the collar patterns don't appear to be matched. Dear anyone: should I grab this? (Assuming I can find the pants :( )
