Had a bunch of close but not quites today... a few Hickey Freeman jackets minus pants, an old Burberry suit that was really big and a Anthony J Hewitt sportcoat that was in terrible shape. Managed to find a great looking pair of ADS L400 bookshelf speakers in near perfect shape for $10 to make things not a total loss.

Pretty good day today. Found a vintage Abercrombie & Fitch (like real vintage probably from the 60's) paddington jacket made in "West Germany". 100% wool 42R. Also, a Lock & Co. tweed bucket hat, NWT. Vintage Alain Mikli eyeglass frames. 1981 Marvel X-Men comic. Two bespoke jackets, all handmade - one navy velvet, and one navy double-breasted blazer. There were no tags so I can't identify the maker, but they appear never to have been worn and are very recent. All the above for under $50.

What do the frames look like? And what size is the navy velvet? Those are definitely some cool finds.

Today: crap. Except I found cheapo (cricketeer?) dillard's blazer+vest with a cool grey/red windowpane pattern. I picked it up because they both fit well and I liked the look (the pants were mangled though). I'll probably get some crap for this, but I've been loving the jeans+vest+blazer look for non-work casual settings. I feel like the absence of people wearing patterned vests+blazers in most work environment these days gives you room to play; ironically, I feel the vest casualizes a wool blazer enough to make it ok to wear with denim.

Same here. A bunch of Hickey Freeman Bespoke for a short fat guy, gigantic Nick Hilton jacket (is this the same as Nicky Hilton? It didn't look like it) some beat up Land's End ties, etc. But the suits are returning to the racks at my local Savers and I feel like it is probably just a matter of time before something turns up.

But I took my seven year old to the thrift for the first time this past weekend. He was a little confused by the concept, but eagerly picked out a new in the box microscope set we found.

Nick Hilton is Norman Hilton's son/grandson one of those. Nicky Hilton is Paris Hilton's sister.

Thanks, I thought so too. Definitely some eclectic items there. Not sure how to tell the size of the frames as I don't wear glasses. I am quite certain they're ladies though - they're a cat eye tortoise shell - very 50's librarian

The velvet SC is about a 40R.

My size :) . If it doesn't fit/you want to sell, let me know. I've been looking for a navy velvet SC.

I wonder what the Mikli's would go for on ebay. I'll have to do some research to see the history of the company - it makes me wonder how long they've been making frames for.

Probably a good bit. Bono is a big fan - if you can find a pic of him wearing your style, you are golden, kid.

It's tagged a euro 56- that's a us 46 right?
Euro sizes are the chest measurement in centimeters halved. So euro size 56 means chest size 112 centimeters, for which Google gives 44.1 inches.

Along these lines, the NYT did a piece on the Flaming Lips singer, recently. Among other shockers, he reveals the suit he wears on stage (and his preferred brand) is Zara.

2 pairs of Brooks Brothers brown tassel loafers by Alden size 10.5 C, good shape, not like new but nice. One in shell, I might keep those. Calf probably up for sale. Let me know if interested, I'll get pics.

They look like these
