Took advantage of Dillard's additional 40% off clearance this w/e. Got a HSM grey pinstripe out the door for $253.00. A pair of Sperry Gold Cup slipon's for $54, and a couple ties and a shirt. They had a really sweet Hickey Freeman that would have been under $500....but was too close a couple suits I already have.

I also suggest if you are looking for a cheap non-iron dress shirt, try the Dillards Gold Label brand. You can pick them up on sale for $15-20...and imo they have held up much better than the BB non-iron and as well as the Nordstrom brand.

Most of thrifting focuses on vintage (dead man’s) shoes. This week I found two pairs of vintage Royal Tweed “Premium Grade” made by Cheaney / Church’s. Love them both... but as a UK 10B they are about a size or half size too small or me. I’m thinking about stretching them, but wonder if it is a lost cause?

Dejavu... Just picked up a pair of "Royal Tweed, by Cheaney, a division of Church's" (a bit of label overload, that one...) burgundy bal brogues. Are you in San Francisco? The previous owner must've been a fellow sufferer of high arches, because they have deep creases on the vamp, which is what they do when I put them on. (As an aside, anyone with extra-high arches know balmorals that are accommodating?) Otherwise, they're in great condition. Has there been a verdict on whether Royal Tweeds are all corrected grain? The forum seems to say so, but with some hesitancy. I think these are, but my eye isn't developed yet.

Also snagged a pair of Florsheim Imperial walnut pebble-grain longwings. Alas, too small for my feet, but in excellent condition. I really need to get a decent camera so I can flip some stuff.

Yes, I'm in SF and found these at the Goodwill at Van Ness and Mission. As I wrote in my earlier post, they are UK 10 B but are too small for my US 11 B feet. Any interest out there? Please pm me.

Creasing is pretty minimal on these. The dark brown pair look like CG but I think the black Bluchers are not.

Sooo.. yesterday after getting depressed by the awesome finds you guys are having I went to another infrequent visit spot in a small town...

Not epic at all, but a much-needed respite around these parts:

Canali unvented jacket (cheap enough to be worthwhile to leave at consignment)
Recent (black label made in Switzerland) Zegna mainline suit with a dark herringbone with stripe pattern, with a nifty lining and pick-stitching even down the arm seams & back seams... ridiculous. 2 buttons side vents size 50R it/40R us.
Paul Smith London shirt, L
Burberry London recent polo made in GB, M - finally a "real" Burberry piece worth picking up
Hermes tie

Pics (not my usual camera, spots are on the camera):

depending on which part the country you live in, and the affluent neighborhoods in your area, you should really thrift better brands, and types of items. Although time spent is often an issue for people with full time jobs. If you pick up everything including various mall brands, your closet will be full very quickly. Quality over quantity :) You should go through and learn about all the brands in this thread. May take you a couple of month to get through everything, but the knowledge you will gain can be very helpful. For example, at my goodwill they mark up banana republic/tommy/ralph lauren (blue label) shirts to $8 each, even on half off days they are $4. No one ever picks these up until half off days and eventually you can go and see an entire 10-20 shirts at a time of these brands. If I picked up everything in my size for a couple of month I would not need to buy a shirt for 4-5 years.

It is, it may have been an orphan but it has a very nice pattern & texture for an odd jacket (and LP super 110's) so I'll probably put it on consignment. The Zegna is probably going to have to hit the bay so we can pay the power bill.

Before I put these things up on B&S/eBay, do any of you have any interest in:

Allen Edmonds "Malone," size 11, with what appears to be some sort of combat sole
XL Etro sweater, plain brown, merino wool
Etro tie, multi-color blues
Corneliani tie, multi-color golds, quite thick
Harris tweed, ~42r, blueish hue
Santorelli brown trousers, 42W

How do you guys feel about Pendleton tweed jackets in comparison to Harris tweed jackets? I live in Oregon, so it is quite often that I stumble upon Pendletons. I quite like them, in many cases I think the construction is a notch above many Harris tweeds I come across.

Harris Tweed refers only to the fabric they are made from, which is hand-loomed on the Isle of Harris. The quality of the finished garment will therefore vary heavily. If you like the Pendleton jackets pick one up, but if you wait you should be able to find a well-constructed half or full canvassed Harris jacket.
