I have no idea how these guys pull trunkloads of high-end clothes.

I've been thrifting since about November.

Yes, I've had ok luck w/ shoes. My local goodwill practically keeps Bostonian and Florsheim oxfords in stock. Haven't run across anything special yet, but they'll do in a pinch.

On how to score truckloads of high-end clothes, it's probably just volume and time management. I only hit one store a day, because I live too far away to spend a lot of time thrifting after work. I'm moving to Virginia Highlands next week, so I'll be able to add more stores to my rotation.

sizes on the suits and SCs?

So, this thread recently hipped me to Ricci ties and lo and behold...the SA had one. And a couple other keepers. More on that below.

First I want to show you a couple recent sweaters I picked up. Alpaca (I have discovered, since I started SF and the thrifting thing, that I have an alpaca fetish -- keep your mind out of the gutter, Digmenow, hahahah -- it's like cashmere to me) and a heavy wool Corneliani cardigan I got on the Spoo-inspired Marshall's runs of a month or so ago...actually shelled out $60 for the Corneliani, you should have seen the moths fly out of my wallet.

I have no idea about the brand on the linen tie (it is handmade, from Ireland). Just been reading Vox Corbera's recent dissertation on mixing color and texture and decided I needed some silk grenadine ties and some linen ties in the lineup for experimentation's sake.

Questions on these if anyone has knowledge to impart:
1) Spoo -- is that Versace real?

2) The Piattelli Roma, in cross-checking the label vs. SF threads, seems to be "good Piattelli." Am I right? (Piattelli would be an excellent label for the Google Spreadsheet history thing, because that brand seems to have gone through some highs and lows over the years)

Oxxfords are 43s the cashmere might be 42. I could not find a tag on the Pendleton but I think it is a 44.

Well, those are a bit too big. Too bad.

Bumping this, because it got lost in moderator review (long time lurker, relatively new poster).

Def gonna flip them - any thoughts on what I should expect money wise?  Also - any thoughts on whether I should tear out the other orthotic system and clean up the glue, or leave them as is?  What do I do with the two loose pieces of leather which make up the insole - attach them with a couple dots of shoe goo, or leave them loose?

They look like they were worn once or twice at the most, based on the sole wear.

versace looks fake

Sorry no pics yet, but I spent most of my morning catching up on this thread after not having a chance to check in for 4 or 5 days.

At lunch today I found

few no-name 3 pc suits. 1 is a gray flannel with gold chalk stripe. The others are herringbone 1 brown 1 gray.

BBGF DB SC - blue with brass.

Super Ugly - Fendi Tie in superb condition.

YSL Tweed with suede elbow patches and cool YSL logo pressed leather buttons.

Pair of AE Sanfords - black calf- should polish up nice.

Not much today other than some casual AE shoes and a huge Viyella shirt.  Actually, the best find would have probably been a nice wooden J. Press suit hanger.  This particular GW gives them away if you buy the suit on them...is it bad that I seriously considered buying a cheap SC just to get the J. Press hanger?  Lol.

It's actually a pretty nice tie (thick overall, featuring smooth silk) for a fake -- lots of effort was put into it, in contrast to other garbage I see -- but nothing would surprise me.

More pixels for Spoo:

Is it worse that I considered returning the cheap SC sans hanger?

In the past I have coveted a vest paired with a suitcoat at SA...bought the pair and gave the coat back to the cashier as "my next donation"

Not ready for the "odd trousers" look?

Actually I have a few with that exact label, just an older label, but let Spoo have the final say.
