Thank god my 25 year old german car will settle for unleaded. haha

Volvo S60 T5. Turbocharged, so premium is recommended. I put in unleaded once and could definitely tell he difference in power. With a turbo-charged engine I can understand why Premium is preferred. On the other hand, the wife has an Infiniti FX35 that is naturally aspirated and I have no idea why they recommend Premium for that. Still, she puts in Premium.

I love it during the summer when I can drive my Scirocco around. Unleaded fuel and gas mileage in the mid to upper 30s! Woo hoo!

Nice haul.

I've had terrible luck thrifting in the UK whenever I'm there.

The only thing I ever found found was an ok cream linen suit.
It fit perfectly and I was leaving and heading to warmer climate the next day so I picked it up.
Accidentally wore in in the pool the first night and shrunk it beyond repair.

What are your thoughts about 4" ties? It seems as if no one likes 4" ties anymore. Why is that?

Would you still wear one?

Cheers

Such a lovely feeling, isn't it? The Salvation Army, neither location of which has ever given me a single piece of worthwhile clothing, yielded this today:

HermÃ
00a9.png
s, Fendi, Etro for Bergdorf, Burberry's, Ferragamo, no-name Madras.

The madras is for me, the rest are for flipping, like I did when I saw them. I may keep the etro, too, as they don't seem to draw bids on the bay. It somehow manages to be both subdued and outrÃ

, which I like. Passed on a hideous gold knit E. Zegna and a badly stained HermÃ

s, as well as a half-dozen others (e.g. several Talbotts) with minor flaws like pulled threads or hard creases.

Unfortunately, the HermÃ
00a9.png
s I did get has a stain"”not a terrible one, but a stain nonetheless. It's a relatively tiny one, and is contained to one spot. At my height, it falls right on the knot front; a shorter person would easily hide it inside the knot, though. How salable is a stained HermÃ
00a9.png
s? Or is it pointless to try to flip now?

It was $29.00 for all of them, so not a steal by thrifting standards, but certainly one by retail. The Salvation Army here charges frickin' $8 for ties, which blows my mind, but accessories were 40% off today, so they were $4-and-change each.

And of course, if any of these are fakes, do tell me before I make a fool of myself.

It's a nice tie, that. I like all of them, surprisingly, since I'm normally not a fan of the tiny-repeating-pattern style. The blue and gold Fendi may be a bit much, but even it is within reason. I guess when it comes to ties, you really are paying for tastefulness. It was a bit of a shock how quickly and prominently the quality ties jumped out from the rest.

Bartlebooth - great finds and it's tough to complain when you're picking up $150+ ties for under $5!

The best tips on making sure the Hermes is real is to check the direction of the fabric...it runs from around 11 to 5 on a clock face (maybe a little steeper like 11:30 to 5:30) and also make sure the lining color matches the base color of the tie.

Oh, and to the wiser ones, what is a good technique for saving ties with harder creases or are they generally beyond salvation?
