The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 1575

One of my all-time thrift store peeves hit, again, today with the shopping-cart crowd, this time piloted by a husband-wife team that glared and silently moved their "treasures" a couple inches out of the way so that I could get by, just barely. In their wake I found a pair of Church's shell tassle loafers. The downside, they'd been re-soled, but the work is well done and the uppers should polish out fine, which I'll be doing this afternoon whilst watching football. Not bad for three bucks.

The icing came at the cash register, where Mr. and Mrs. Shopping Cart were right behind me in line. When they opened up a new register and asked for the next person in line, these pigs rushed over so they could go before me, a man with one pair of shoes in his hands. And they had an overflowing cart.

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered...

Worst case toss it on ebay tonight with a 99 cent opening bid and 3.99 shipping and see what you get. Just give an honest description if it's a little beat up and you never know what the bidding will do.

Hand tailored "Silver Label" a notch below Golden Fleece, but not by much & 100% Cashmere... if your flipping that's going to bring some $$$ on ebay. Nice Find!

I like that one, and the made in Japan tweed. Those are really nice. What size is that BB?

Wondering the exact same thing. drool.gif

Also, the first pic looks like there is a large windowpane pattern, but I can't detect it in the second pic. Is it there, or is that just my imagination? Either way, that number is gorgeous. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Is a Caruso worth hanging on to? I'll post a pic of me wearing it in another thread to see about the fit issue in the arm holes. If I spread out my arms, it kind of looks like I have slender wings coming off my torso. I guess if it's an orphaned jacket, those two issues probably mean I'll never wear it.

A bit of common sense for ya if you dont mind. If you are never going to wear it, what is the point in keeping it?

Thanks and thanks for the info on the Silver Label. There is a windowpane pattern. It's a lightish green with light orange windowpane. It's a size 38 but fits my 39-40 frame, so I'll be keeping this one.

Thanks. Never heard of Partenopea until I found this piece. Not sure how recent it is. A quick eBay check shows the label has changed from the label in my jacket.

Got some good stuff today. AE Hale not necessarily a thrift--got them from Nordstrom Rack. Needed some oxfords. Burberry flannel was $6.99. Zegna ties were super cheap! Excuse the bad lighting on the pictures.
