The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 1523

The best piece of advice I can give to anyone new to thrifting...read the 1500 pages of this thread. Once you have done that then you will have a much better idea of quality vs quantity. You'll save yourself time and money and won't have a huge pile of clothes that you'll
have to go re-thrift.

+1 Definitely the case for me over the last couple of months.

Is that a nice way of saying I ended up with a bunch of crap?  confused.gif

Couldn't leave this Leprechaun coat behind today. I was mostly drawn to the lining. No idea who the maker was.

Here it is. I forgot to mention that it has the coveted natural/unpadded shoulders and is fully lined and double vented!

I did the Marshall's thing this evening as well. I had on a PRL custom fit polo which felt quite nice but @ $39.99, I passed. However, I found two cashmere winter scarves, one marked $15 (made in China) and another with no price but it was made in Scotland and had a faux Burberry print. I pointed out that it was the last one in stock and they were both cashmere so the manager gave it to me for $15 like the Chinese model. We retail folk really like it when you make our jobs easy for us!

I think his "wat" was referencing the fact that Hathaway apparently does a line for Lanvin, which is also quite a surprise to me.

sorry, most of it is...don't worry though, everyone has to learn. Good news is that you can probably flip that Burberry shirt on ebay and make enough to recover what you spent on the poor choice stuff.

...so I assume Hathaway quality at Lanvin prices?

The advice is valid. You did not end up with a bunch of crap though. Especially if you can rock what you thrifted. First rule is if it fits, if it looks good, if you like it then that is the best thrift ever. At least for the hobbyists here.

Ah... the one thing that fit me well and I liked.... Someone here already asked for it.  What is a fair price for him?
