We show up at a party wearing a Brioni suit, Borrelli shirt, Charvet tie, and Church's shoes. All of which we paid $50 for. There is nothing we cannot do.

Great day today as I only had time for one store! All 3 shirts are practically flawless.....and even better, the Brioni's are my size!

The Zegna looks absolutely unworn, unfortunately, although it fits me in the neck (16) the length of the shirt is 40? I think I would have to wear it as a sportshirt

Anyways, if any smaller guys are interested in the Zegna for sale or trade send me a pm.

Gents

Saw about 5 E Zegna dress shirts 16/41. That's what it said although I dont know what the 41 stands for. I didnt buy any because they dont fit me but if someone wants, I can proxy. Majority are striped depending on white or light blue and they look as if they've never been worn

41cm = 16 neck? I see!

Well, I believe the length of the sleeves are over 33 because my arms are 33 and they were longer. Sorry guys, I didn't have a measuring tape and it didn't specify other than that.

Hmm...well then my post above doesn't make much sense, thanks for clearing that up for me as well! I guess the shirt is just cut shorter than normal.

Saw my first Borelli for Neiman Marcus shirt today. Sadly, the collar points were a little worn and the pattern wasn't my style. But I did give it a good look-over, in my endeavor to learn what makes a good shirt a good shirt. There were a boatload of good-to-moderate condition bespoke shirts from two guys at one of the thrift stores, at least five each, but the guy whose chest and neck fit me either had freaking monkey arms or liked his sleeves to billow like a windsock, so I had to pass on them. Picked up a nice staple, though: light blue BB 346 button-down collar. Not really brag-worthy, but something I've been missing.

I keep an eye out for shoes, actually; it's one of the ways I can afford nicer shoes. They're usually the first thing I check in a store, since they're quick and easy to survey. It's a little weird the first few times you wear them, when you can feel the imprint of someone else's foot in the shoe, but after that... I don't really get why people find wearing pre-owned shoes so disgusting in the first place, though. Running shoes, sure, I can see why that'd be a bit nasty, but dress shoes don't seem icky at all to me. One thing I've been wondering: how do you guys tell the difference between bespoke and delabeled or otherwise unmarked clothing? Is it just that all quality bespoke shirts have a "Made by X for Y" tag or something along those lines? Or is it just having a developed eye for quality that doesn't need to rely on a label?

Picked this up yesterday. I've been trying to like it but it's just not my colour. So it's probably going to go on eBay.

When you handle enough clothing, your fingers learn to tell decent quality fabric and construction. That's usually what makes me notice something at first. Then I investigate further, looking at construction quality--doing the pinch test to check for canvassing, looking for handwork in the buttonholes, under the collar, etc.

Bespoke clothing isn't necessarily anything great. I see tons of bespoke and MTM in thrift stores all the time--but the vast majority is either Tom James or it's from Hong Kong, and the quality is poor. I've seen hundreds of those, and only come across a handful of custom pieces that were worth picking up. You're better off learning to look and feel for quality in the fabric and construction, and place only secondary importance on the labels.
