Hermes made in Scotland sweaters are common for cashmere. They do not exclusively make in France and Italy. Id go get that.

Ah, yes, that makes much more sense.

+1 - I would happily pay $26 for EG's in my size then happily pay to have them resoled. Unless the leather has actual physical breaks, it's surprising what shoes can be brought back from the dead. I imagine if you picked them up at $26 there'd be someone on the forum who'd pay you your cost plus shipping for them, at least.

Klobber - BTW that Fray shirt - I'm trying not to acquire FC shirts at the moment, and it would be a hair large for me anyhow, I wasn't kidding that he should really do a deal with you. wink.gif

Oh yeah, I think I posted my favorite pic of today's few pickups - the hanger. I know it's silly to want a Savile Row hanger, but I had to trade for it.

Sadly, the suit on the hanger... is a recent Hickey Freeman in 42L. Also snagged another recent Hickey Freeman in 42L - must have been the same guy. I've been surprised how well the recent-label HF has done in sales, but I guess I shouldn't be since they're nice suits and I love wearing mine - in fact, it's my interview suit since most of my "nicer" suits tend to be patterns.

Also snagged a Lands' End navy cashmere v-neck that I think I'll end up posting over on AAAC exchange, decided my Saks house brand is nicer after all.

Also, this - I knew it wouldn't be worth much even if real, but figured it would be fun to post and find out if it was real or not. The materials tag was cut off, you can see a bit of the stub on the right side.

(My parents just sent me video from the Etro store in Rome; said it was like a scene from Zoolander. I'm hoping something will make it's way into my stocking this X-mas...)

Hoofit, that Charvet tie is bawse.

$60 though is steep for an old cashmere sweater confused.gif, name brand or no name brand.

It's not just any name-brand. It's Hermes! Hell, I'll betcha just the Hermes label itself is worth $50! Add that to the value/quality of the sweater that's attached to it and you have a $200+ (resale) sweater there.

Hmm, maybe we could just start collecting old labels from beaten-down garments, then assemble them into some type of uber-sweater, profit.

Don't laugh. Glove coat tells me this could work:

Yup, just checked eBay, it confirms everything you say. What can I say, WOW. I love Hermes but I wont admit to understanding it though - I mean, shit it is second hand and old (easily 15 years old, maybe more). Why would a fellow not buy a nice new $250 Neiman Marcus Cashmere sweater over an old roughed up Hermes Sweater at the same price? - it is not as if Hermes plaster logos all over the place or that 15 years "drycleaning, use and abuse cashmere" somehow feels nicer and higher quality than a new generic brand sweater puzzled.gif

Yeah I will buy that sweater, although I saw it last Friday and it is questionable whether it lasted 5 days on the sweater rack. Lets see......

Learn something new everyday. Next time I see high end shoes, I take them as long as leather in good nick.
Yeah that Fray shirt would be too baggy and the sleeves too short. It would be tough to make work. Shame really, it is a really nice shirt.

Edward Green, John Lobb level.  Not Allen Edmonds level unless it was in great condition, since a decent resoling will probably cost you over $100.

Then again I'm wondering what the brands that Mainy picked up, the only one I could make out of his photo was Cole Haan :P

4x Salvatore Ferragamo
16x Allen Edmonds (2x shell Cordovan, 1x sharkskin)
3x Alden (2x shell cordovan)
1x Brooks Brothers English
1x Alan Mcafee
2x Florsheim (Shell cordovan)
1x Bruno Magli
1x Cole Haan
2x Magnanni
2x Nunn Bush NOS
1x JC Penny NOS
1x Church's
1x Ferrini (like new, alligator)
1x Hanover (shell cordovan)
1x C&J For Brooks Bros

That's leaving out some pairs but it's a rough breakdown. Nothing too eye popping, definitely no Lobb's or EG frown.gif

When/where is your full list of gear going up again?

Seriously.  I might have to call my banker to have them move some funds around.  Buying shoes is a good reason for taking out a second mortgage, right?  Lol.
