Was in town for a pair of grey/black selvedge to mis-match my Big E Levi's type III. Finally gave in and bought a pair of Unbranded tapered for $50.

Always thought these were made in China. But they are made in Macau. I guess that's kind of better cuz APC makes their stuff in Macau. Was expecting lower quality but to my surprise, the fit is right on and feels durable at 14.5 oz. Now, I have 8 pairs of selvedge with 0 pairs being broken in.

Ummm. Macau isn't technically part of China?

Technically yes. But it's similar to Hong Kong. It's ran a little differently.

Wow! Those are healthy profit for a couple of buttons! Get that $!

Just looked at the actual Ben Silver website....whoa

These are likely the bottom of the food chain...maybe second tier, but they would have been $225 or $675 new, even at the lower levels. Too bad they aren't the gold ones....$4600! Oh well. Maybe next time. Apparently Ben Silver isn't offering the UVA set any more either.

Yeah those are all good brands. Never was into Thomas Pink.

Fray are super high end. My only bugbear with them and so many shirting brands is fit. I primarily dig the fashion brands for shirts mainly because they fit so dang well. Tom Ford Prada Gucci etc just nail their fits. The two Fray shirts I have found were a 17 collar but still fit me like a tent - where I am an 18 collar by and large so was expecting a 17 shirt to be on the smaller side. Even Charvet are guilty as charged for producing shirts that fit like a tent.

As for my build, those that have met me can attest I am certainly not on the skinny or thin side. I am a big tall lump of a man but cannot stand wearing stuff that balloons out to the point I feel like a 1700's aristocrat.

I would love to be able to wear some fine American shirts. Brooks Brothers, Ben Silver, Gitman, and various outdoors apparel but cannot get anything to fit. You are in good shape so what is your secret to fitting all this stuff? Is your wife (or yourself) well versed in the art of sewing so you can take your own stuff in? I refuse to take my items to a tailor - it is just too much money particularly if I only invested 10bucks into a thrifted shirt.
 The Valentini pants I picked up were new and had cross stitching all over. Quality wise, very nice indeed in a wonderful beige pink prince of wales pattern. I wish they fitted me but if your husband needs pants I would be glad to pass them on.

It's funny you ask. 70% of my shirts are BB slim fits (I love them and they fit perfectly off the rack). 20% are Gitman (the newer ones are slim fitting), the rest (a few RLPL, Brioni and the Fray I mentioned) I had tailored. Mine charges $30 for how I want them. I figure, $30 plus the original $6 I paid for the shirt, on a $600 Fray that will last me for years to come is worth it. I've also got quite a few vintage shirts that were slim fitting to begin with. Think 60's Gant. And my polo's are vintage Munsingwear, Lacoste and Le Tigre, the cotton variety, also already slim fit and soft as a baby's ass. And if I'm feeling really ambitious, I'll swap out the buttons with MOP's, but I'm usually too lazy for that. :hide:

Edit: I've also got a suitcase full of shirts that I only wear under other things, be it a cardigan, vest or sport coat. Think Zegna, Armani and **** like that, that I don't want to pay to have tailored but are nice enough to hold onto in case the need arises to bust them out. :nodding:

Double edit: It's a vintage 40's BB suitcase. :foo: :foo: :foo: :foo:

Question. I picked up this Dinno Gallucci leather coat because it was in great shape and my size. However. Buttons up the other side. Mens or Womens? It is sized Medium and fits like a mens medium. I would have expected a number size for a women's coat. My wife hates it. Available. Butter soft leather.

Also, Allen Edmonds Manchester is good shape. 9D Available.

Your outfit is fantastic! Very well fitted and nicely put together! Well done! But.... clean your mirror. It seems quite dirty in the first picture.

You have hit the ground running and I am impressed that you have taken to thrifting like a duck to water. How open are you to trading with us lot? Only a few of us pick up woman's apparel although I have a feeling you could change all that. Most of us thrift the woman's section only to pick up misplaced men's clothing, but if you and a couple more ladies hit this thread, our thrifting habits could be changed. I do thrift for my wife, finding her all kinds of name brand clothing, including a Chanel dress. I often notice some pretty high dollar dresses/suits/jeans and shoes but would not have a clue what to do with them. If they fit my wife I take, if they do not, I leave behind.... Purses / handbags are different, I pick them up anyway and if my wife likes, she keeps although I have scaled this down because quite a bit of stuff is clearly counterfeit (i.e. Givenchy handbag recently picked must have been fake due to no "made in" tab).

I would LOVE to see what those Valentini pants look like! They sound absolutely gorgeous! Are they a size 40 by chance??

Thank you for your kind words! I'm very open to trading with you all. I mean, if I find something that's my husbands size, chances are he'll take it. But if I find something that's not his size, you all will get the dibs. I'm not gonna leave a high end sportcoat on the rack! That would be completely dumb of me! I'm not too concerned about getting women's clothes in return. I'm quite picky when it comes to my style, lol. I wear unique shirts. I could always use jeans though! If you find those jeans that have that "bedazzled" look on the back pockets AND in a size 5, please let me know!

Yes, but when it says Made in China, it means it's made in the mainland, where quality control tends to be atrocious. Where as in Macau, Hong Kong, are considered "new" old territory which has led me to think their quality control is a bit better. I don't have many garments that were made in Macau except for those APC's, but some of my Made in HK pieces are fairly quality and I'll take made in Macau pieces over Made in China pieces any day.
