What I think is strange about this thread is that the standards are constantly raised a bit. I remember when a Borrelli or Brioni shirt would be surprising, but it seems they're found on a daily basis with little fanfare. I posted a pair of Vass shoes a couple of months ago and I can't remember if anything was said. One category that seems to consistently get comments though, and it happens to be one of my favorite "categories" in this thread, are the vintage pieces. Things that are old get a lot of love here.

Anyway, not a complaint or a rant, but something I've noticed. Am I alone in that??

I think I missed this.... They weren't a size 43 were they?

I agree. The rarer an item is, the more attention and props will be given by members.

I agree that the standards have gone up. I think we have more people posting than ever, so the good stuff is bound to show up more frequently. I remember someone posted a RLPL plaid sport coat a while back that got zero comments.

I like the growing appreciation for more vintage stuff here. Sometimes a 1950s Deansgate jacket is more interesting than another 90s Zegna suit. I hope Spoo's vintage thread continues to take off too.

Picked up a 2-ply cashmere sweater the other day for a few bucks
It's Roundtree & Yorke which is a department store house brand, but still good qual.
I washed it twice in the "hand-wash" cycle to get the smell out
regular detergent the first cycle and then with a glob of hair conditioner in the second cycle
block dried and now it wears like new!

You're right, more people leads to more/better finds. Naturally we get desensitized to certain labels, though I'd certainly be excited to find any number of them. I think I know the jacket you're talking about - I saw it on my phone and thought it would be quoted 5 times, but nothing else had been mentioned!

I love the vintage stuff and most of what appears in Spoo's thread. I absolutely love some of the stuff from the 1900s-1960s. It's fairly rare to find in thrifts now, but I'd guess it will be incredibly difficult in 5-10 years. Of course the stuff from the '60s and '70s will appear, but the old generation from WWII will be gone and the last of their clothes donated.

I found some great things for myself today although it may not be everyone here's thing.

Brand new with tags Pointer Brand hickory stripe shawl collar chore coat in size small. I was debating whether or not I should order one of these from Pointer a few weeks ago. Im glad I waited since I only paid $20 for this one.

A pair of almost new Gap selvedge 1969 made in Italy size 32x36 jeans. I have somehow managed to find like 6 pairs of selvedge 1969 jeans over the past few months but never with a 36" inseam. The details and construction on this pair are a lot nicer than most of the other ones Ive come across.

Next up isnt the greatest find in the world but it fits well and I really like the pattern. Its a Zara size medium dress shirt that looks like it has never been worn before. Pardon the terrible photo. I took this while in the store and I dropped the shirt off at my dry cleaners on my way home.
