Thrift fit for today...
Details:
Coat - Canali (Ebay) Shirt - BB OCBD (Thrift) Tie - BB Cashmere (Thrift) Pocket Square - PRL (Thrift) Pants - Hickey Freeman (Thrift) Socks - Byford (STP) Shoes - Florsheim Shell (Ebay)
Question - are the pocket square and tie too "matchy-matchy"?
A little, maybe go with something to pull that yellow stripe out of the coat.
+1. I find yellow hard to pull off though (he says, as he adjusts the banana yellow polka dot square he's wearing today). White, of course, would have been great. You could also have tried a nice madder -- something with a lot of subdued reds, with some greens, rusts and yellows mixed in, ideally in wool or linen. Rust would be the complementary color to the blue, and madder would pull out the colors of the jacket. And the wool or linen would have paired nicely with the cashmere tie. Nice fit, btw. I had a good day. Will not have time between work, teaching and travel to post details for some time. But Finamore was purchased (someone beat me to the Borrelli), as was Chester Barrie, PRL Corneliani, several items missing labels but I believe to be Loro Piana (brand, not just fabric) or better, and a whole truckload more. Construction was absolutely exquisite. One was an orphan, but far too awesome to leave. Passes included Santoni cap toe brouges with one of the caps crushed beyond repair, Gucci DB orphan (possibly TF era), several orphan/reverse orphan BB1818s, including one Saxon and two LP, and MANY overpriced items that would otherwise have proudly topped the brag list. Please do not PM until I have a chance to get back from vacation, measure and decide what's being kept and what is not. I will brag properly about it at that time.

My wife was a HUGE fan of Boston Legal and Denny Crane's polka dot ties in particular. As long as I've been thrifting, she's been on me to find myself a nice polka dot tie. Well, a quick lunchtime stop netted a fairly recent Canali mid grey staple, 54R suit and a pretty decent polka dot tie. The other tie is the first Ascot Chang tie I've come across. Very nice quality! Available (except the polka dot tie).

I missed out on probably the best haul of my life today by a few minutes; borrelli, loro piana, zegna mil mil, recent canali, prl corneliani. Bad news bears. I would have known what it feels like for dm for one day, but alas, I am literally sick to my stomach. More story deets later with pictures of somethings that you will be interested in.

Drop doesn't necessarily mean its an orphaned suit jacket. I have a number of odd jackets that show a drop.
If it's PZ Sartoriale definitely it would be worth the pick up. If it's ordinary PZ, YMMV. More active voices may have better knowledge of the second hand PZ market than me.

Like Steve said, PZ sartoriale is incredible. However, I would keep it if its your size, or list here on SF. It doesn't get a lot of love on ebay.

Heading to the bay, but how do I list it...

Also nothing amazing, but a nice purple gingham shirt in my size.

I don't know if I just am not finding as much or I am becoming more selective because my closet is full...looks at first shirt...yea, probably not that second one.

So I missed a pair of KEFs and a pair of vintage Bang and Olufson speakers at $10 a pair today (KEFs were recent but a base model and kinda beat up. B&O looked mint). Why am I not super pissed?

Because I found this for $15.....

Buckle is metal. Flash makes it look wierd.

Couple questions for Spoo or anyone else. Is this Tom Ford and is the "Gucci - Italy" buttons for real? Just sounds stupid and fake to me. I'm 99% sure this thing is real. Zegna made in Switzerland. Very high quality.

Also, I turned my women's Kiton 100% cashmere 2 pc suit (jacket and skirt) into a 3 pc with the matching trousers. Found them today for 1/2 off. Boy am I glad I looked.

Nice job on the Aldens. I've been looking for some Aldens like this for forever. I may have to break down and pay retail :brick:

2 stops and picked up a basic blue Pink dress shirt for myself and a skeet blanket for the bay. My passes were:
James Perse twilly pants. 1st time seeing this brand at a thrift. the waist was like 33 and the inseam was something crazy like 27 or 26. And since they were jeans twill there was no possibility to let them out.
BB Saxon sold grey pants. Not sure of the hierarchy on the BB line and where these rank. Waist was 35. I think they were FF.
G. armani white label light grey suit. Normally this is sure flippability but it had at least 3 oil type stains that I was not sure would come out.
One more pass I can't remember :embar:

(SF rant: i try to insert a smiley icon and it comes out a few spaces behind my sentence. Argh!!!

Rocky Mtn Featherbed is a vintage outerwear grail item. Seriously. Wow. I've been after one for over a decade and still have not found one. Consider yourself very lucky. I'd say they're even more scarce than the elusive Kiton.

Owch. Don't worry man, you're not alone. Watched some really nice speakers get wheeled out the door today for $20. I was too slow. :fu:

, I knew Uncle Nat would be proud...

I did learn that they are being made again in Japan (since 2005) by an avid Rocky Mtn Featherbed collector who "re-opened" the business.

Was doubly pleased so find that this one is from the original company...and I have yet to find another instance of this specific color combination.
