Stupidly, I forgot to take a photo of the inside, but this is a 100% Beaver fur hat. Interior diameter of 23" exactly. Made by Bourse Cellini (I'd never heard of them either, but the thing is quality) in Milan, probably sometime in the 60's. Sold by the Globe Hat Co in Buffalo, NY. And did I mention pure beaver fur? It's not in the best shape, some mild mothing (small and shallow, none even close to going through the felt), a very small hole where the thrift store employee shot the tag through, parts of the ribbon are faded slightly, and the ribbon could stand to be pressed. Basically, it could use a little TLC and a good cleaning from someone who knows what they're doing.

But still, this is a very nice hat, and I hope to pass it on to somebody who'll appreciate it and give it the love it needs, even if it doesn't bring in much money.

Oh, and ignore the impromptu hat stand. Easiest way I could find to pose it for the picture.

I also found an ascot, and bought it just to amuse myself. If anyone really feels the need for one, let me know, I'd let this go for a few bucks. No tags, but it had been set out at the same time as a (slightly stained and weirdly colored) Paul Stuart tie, and given the demographics of ascot wearers, I'm assuming it was from the same donor.

And then this Burberry's Suit, its a little older but it's tiny...not marked but I think it's at least a 36 if not even smaller. Pit to Pit is about 18", shoulder seam to seam is 16", and bottom of collar to hem is 29"...is there somehow to turn those measurements into a size?

That's what you call a close fitting 36 short. Measurements on the pants might help get you a few bites, there are a few of us little guys floating around here. A little dated, but it's a decent quality plain charcoal suit in a hard to find size. If I hadn't just bought a charcoal suit, I'd be throwing you a PM right about now.

Thanks, figured it had to be in the 36 range, at first I thought it was a boy's. Pants are 32x29.

This is what made the day right here. All from the same donor/collection. I've been after a clean copy of Freak Out for years. Kinda sad Electric Mud has water damage but oh well, the vinyl is clean. Been after that one for a good while too. The rest are in perfect shape.

Anyone noticed relative price hikes in their favorite thrift stores?

Over here, shocked to see anything half decent marked up to absurd amounts. If this is gonna continue, my thrifting days are over.

Example:

Zegna shirts at 24 each.
Zegna sweater with holes 36.
Zanella pants 22
Zanella shirt 18
Borrelli shirt 28
Canali Sport Coat 48
Burberry Suit 92
Hickey Freeman Suit 80ish....

This was at 3 thrift stores visited today. Other stuff was there but all ridiculously marked up. Only stuff not marked are the lower end gear.

These are thrift stores, not consignment.

Something tells me someone knows their stuff. Two Armani suits were present, one was old as heck and marked at around 40bucks, other was more recent marked at around 90buckeroos.

Maybe this is a phase but I am gutted and any thrift pickups would have to be Kiton level stuff to be affordable now since nobody would take a proxy on any of the above goods, not when cheaper to get on eBay . Even a shirt for shirt trade would not make sense not when I have to pay these kinds of butthead prices. Dang it.

I don't know if Pringle is worth grabbing if you're an eBay reseller (which I'm not). But I can tell you that Pringle is definitely worth grabbing if you like wearing nice stuff.

Nice sweaters, hit and miss for Cotton on the bay, cashmere and lambswool both do well. Cotton ones seem to do ok if they are something not plain, either odd pattern to the sweater or some design woven in.
