Sadly, this.  It's amazing how quickly people forget all the protections they enjoy with both unions and government labor laws looking out for them.  Just look at the history of coal towns.

Best item of the day.... and a lot more to come later

Always wanted a laserjet just for labels and its wireless! Works great, just missing the little tray that catches the paper when it comes out. $9.99! :slayer:

Yup, canvas. Had it been leather it would be very cheap for a vintage shop. They tend to put a price tag that's at least 10x what you'd pay in a thrift store (on the other hand they do the work of finding and selecting the stuff they sell).

I paid nearly that much for a moth-eaten cardigan that was a little older and was more than happy with the price. If it's something you'll wear and is in great condition, go for it. Even at that price it's cheaper than something similar new.

barrel: no, I was selling that stuff because I found stuff I like better, or it was too long/short, or had closed quarters, etc.. I'm still a 42R, but stuff just fits me better at the button point now.

I have absolutely no qualms about reselling stuff I buy from "non-profits". My issue is with them exploiting loopholes in labor laws to pay workers peanuts.

This thread has already discussed this in great lengths about a year back.  The result...we all still thrift, and no one boycotts goodwill, rather counters with purchasing more to exploit them for profits :fonz:

Its the game of life...

I just make sure my decent donations go to a small shop that benefits a local hospital and the crap that isn't quite headed to the rubbish bin goes to Goodwill.

Hello everyone, I've been thrifting for probably 4-5 years now, for both myself and flipping purposes, and have occasionally popped in to lurk this thread. Decided to make an account finally. Glad to be here!

Yesterday's 4th of July sale (50% off) at one store brought in everything below. Not pictured: Adriano Goldschmied Supply olive chinos and a Paul Smith Jeans plaid shirt, both for myself. Do people in this thread trade? I'm not sure how the mechanics of that works here but would appreciate if a thread veteran could shoot me a quick PM on the ropes.

So the other half doesn't like to do the Goodwils, who can blame her, so today's brag is from mid Texas summer sale at Nordstom Rack in Houston.
PRPS lambswool cardigan in blue and red sz L, Mac Alan heather half zip cablenit sweater 100% cas$mere and made in Scotland sz XL, and an Anthony Morato pull over sweater shirt with a big comfy neck scarfs thing which was less than $15.

+1

I've been reading The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, lately.  Of course, it's 100 years old, but exploiting workers has always been the American/Capitalist way.
