^^ I've found that newer Talbott ties feel like they're made a lot better than the old ones too. Same with a lot of stuff. Zegna too. Their older stuff feels like garbage, but some of their newer stuff is amazing. What's the deal? I've heard of quality going down with time, but quality going up?

Usually parallel with prices...

Much to my surprise GW was open last night. The wife had me dropping some last minute stuff for our 2010 income tax and while there I found a Bottega Veneta tie and a Zegna Sportshirt. Everything was open today so I snagged a NM private label brown wool flannel shirt jacket and a T&A tie. The next stop was a bust but the next yielded a pair of unworn Cole-Haan slip ons and a pair of Floesheim Imperial burgundy captoes with a very modern extended, tapered toe box. Good shoes are the one thing I see very little of here so I put them both in the win column.

Hey Everyone, I'm back from the dead! Hahaha!

So yesterday, I went to a few Goodwill's and Arc's. Didn't find much until I hit an Arc. There I managed to find 2 Anderson & Sheppard Sportcoats! Both made in 1994 out of Heavy Wool. Both are in really good shape. There are about a 44 XL. Also found a very nice Canali Proposta Sportcoat with Working Buttons. That's the first Canali I've seen in person with working buttons! Anyone else seen that? I found other stuff but I'll be posting those up on Ebay 1/2/2011. If anyone is interested in the Anderson & Sheppard's, I can provide Pictures and Measurements!

One store today, found a standard 2-button Oxxford blazer for myself... with a hole on the sleeve underside found at the checkout.

Also saw four CT shirts that were .5 inch off from my size in both neck and sleeve... bleh.

Redeemed by the Lorenzini & Zegna Su Misura shirts: first Su Misura shirt I've seen. Does that white label date it at all? On shirts without the (z) on them, I'd only seen the dark-colored label. Anyway, the Su Misura is *perfect* for me, and the Lorenzini is going to my dad.

The Lorenzini is older. That Zegna is pretty recent. That label makes it newer than 2005. Nice score!

Not sure, but I think I may be in the running for "Most Unusual Item Found at a Thrift Store 2011".
Came home from a local Savers on Friday with a wolverine pelt. 48" long, nose to tail; 14" wide; 4 paws with claws; fantastic condition. Gonna try to flip it. I just know that for $20, I couldn't leave it behind.

Holy cow... wow. Bring that thing to Ohio or Michigan... you'll get either a Wolverines fan who wants to display it proudly, or a Buckeyes fan who wants to use it as a doormat! And Nataku - thanks for the dating - it's always nice to have one of those nice finds that FITS me rather than "rats, almost!" One of these days, I'm going to get together a collection of photos of Zegna sport-shirt/dress-shirt labels and tie labels, and post them up in the hope of pinpointing years. BTW, I completely hear what you're saying re: Zegna ties - I recently found my first super-duper-recent one, and it's hanging on my "top-tier-ties" rack next to Brionis and Charvets - not on the other rack with every other Zegna I have. They must have really upped the quality during some of those price increases!

Had a decent run recently: Among other things, shirts by Etro (size 43), Attolini (44) and Battistoni (16R); a Zegna silk and wool SC. Unfortunately, none of the shirts are my size. Also, Oxxford, D&G and Hermes ties. Not pictured, another Zegna navy 3-roll-2, not sure if it's an orphan, but certainly works as a blazer. Several Varvatos shirts; J.Crew shirts; a BB formal shirt with pique front; and a pair of NWOT black cords, Armani Black Label.

Items passed on (or returned) include a Carroll & Co., db, navy blazer made by Chester Barrie (tried mightily, but just too small - hard to return that one); a recent Canali grey suit (again, too small); and a Battistoni suit, 3-button, dbl-vented (way too large). All regrettable but these things happen.

What size is that Battistoni? I love their stuff, but it's not very common.
The suit? I think was a 44L. It's gone now, though. Yeah, I don't think I have ever seen a Battistoni suit before. The shirt is a 16R (I need an L). Great quality but sleeves are too short for me.

Bought a Southwick suit in charcoal w/ a purple pinstripe 1" apart. Me likey!! Me keepy!! And also got a BB Makers SC. It is blue with that "charcoal" look, the micro "white" threads. What is this called?

I think I smell an increase in the quality of thrift goods in this post-holiday season. Saw a nice Barney's shirt and a Bullock and Jones shirt today, but passed on both because they were not in my size. Also, quite a few nice cds in stock, including Elvis Costello and Frank Zappa.

Had a shitty day today bc I did poor on my GMAT. Now I've to apply in round 3. I was so mad that I decided to thrift. Found a navy blue pinstripe Corneleani suit, a canali striped shirt for work (a lil wide), and a g Armani tie.
