The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 6796

I am new to the thrifting game and made my first purchases today. It took a while to browse all the suits since I am still getting used to what labels to watch out for and don't have much of a 'hand' yet to quickly brush by the rack.

Found 2 HF jackets but couldn't find the pants so I left them. May go back for one of them to see if it'd make a nice sport coat. They were pretty vintage.

Ended up just buying some ties to get my feet wet..

Got this one sort of as a gimmick for Easter. Blue PRL - 100% cotton.

Viyella - Black Watch tartan, woven in Scotland.

Then I was about to leave and saw the 'Savile Row' tag sticking out and grabbed this, and the next one was right underneath that.

Is the Polo anything special? I know Blue label suits are made by some reputable people but wasn't sure if that carried over to the ties and such. Also, a quick search shows that Drake has made some ties under the Hardy Amies name... is there a good way to check who made the two I got?

Thanks!

As far a Polo Ralph Lauren goes, Polo is a separate line from the Ralph Lauren Blue Label. There's Ralph Lauren Blue purple and black label clothes, iirc. There are ties, but they are only labeled Ralph Lauren. Welcome to the thread by the way!

I think the Versace and Brioni are legit. Cherry pop on Brioni. Think it might be NWOT (has a pin holding it together)

Nice finds

Sooooooo much carnage today, had the cart piled high with Gucci, Canali, Armani, I was living the dream.  Until I noticed the moth holes....

The survivors:

Armani Linen, Varvatos mainline (nicest made JV I've ever seen) cotton, and EZ Su Misura

Wound up getting some of the damaged Gucci, but talked the manager into giving me a good deal.  If nothing else, I can scavenge the Gucci embossed buttons off them.  The Gucci suit was so nice, and it fit me.

@SpooPoker want?

New Ferrari Future Cat 11.5US

Unfortunately, those are licensed ones, not worth anything. 99.9% of Hardy Amies ties are a pass…

Not clothing, but anyways:

Early 70's coffee table by Torbjörn Afdal, made by Haug. Good condition, not sure if girlfriend will allow. Our tiny apartment be damned!

Thank you as well! If you don't mind sharing, how can one tell the Hardy Amies labels apart from the non-licensed ones?

I don't know many ties that aren't safe for a Navy Suit.

Any red/navy repp tie, burgundy, navy and light blue stripe, the list is endless. but you don't want them remembering your tie. If they do, it was probably bad. So nothing crazy.
