I don't want to devolve into forbidden flip talk or :spam: the thread, but I will just say that at least one of you (I'm looking at you, Staxringold) made out like bandits in round 1 of the ongoing inventory purge on my and my wife's Ebay accounts.

I keep telling you people: I have stuff to trade. Get @ me.

Hey Nat..you are definitely right. I was in the store debating with myself for a very long time. Ultimately what I decided to do was take the best of the best. After reading what you wrote above I went back and picked up some more stuff. I went back and picked up two more of the Zegna suits that looked more recent and were in great condition. I went back to see the Oxxford blazer that I saw but it was actually a Zegna that was a blazer. It had gold Zegna buttons. I had so many things in my cart yesterday I guess I got it mixed up because there was also an Oxxford navy orphan. As I get to the suit area, there is a guy actually holding the Zegna blazer. I start talking to him and he asks me if he should get it. It fit him perfectly. I encouraged him to buy it even though I really wanted it because the price was right. It's all good. I ended up with 3 Oxxford suits, 3 Zegna suits, a corneliani sport coat, and a navy Oxxford orphan that definitely could be used as a blazer, especially with a button swap. After going back today, I do not regret anything that I left behind. But I am serious when I tell you that there were SO MANY ORPHANS. I just wonder if the pants are somewhere in the back waiting to come out. I'll be watching. Thanks again for the kick in the pants Nat!!

Glad to see you went back for seconds! Haha. Honestly if it's recent, nice and not abnormally shaped (t-rex arms, etc), then I'll buy it. Glad to hear someone else benefited from this haul too. :)

Honestly, I'd pile all the nice orphans into a cart and once you've got a hold of them, ask the workers if there's any chance the pants for all the nice suits that recently came out might be in back somewhere. Maybe they're hanging on a rack that they're waiting to put out because the men's pants section is full and they didn't distinguish or care that they may have been part of a suit. Always worth asking in my opinion. Either way, if you can return them I'd buy the nicest orphans and just go back every couple days to see if the pants turn up. If they don't by the last returnable day, just return the jackets.

Those RLPL trousers are insane!

Very cool briefcase! I'd definitely say 50's. Very cool to have that old address label on it with the postal zone and the 5 digit phone number.

1947 is when the zip code came out, so thinking before then?

Those boots are unreal. Much nicer than a lot of the super expensive fake military boots folks are dying for.

and indeed they are -- i have recently bought three pairs of vintage boots (two german, one british), two of which i believe are military or combat boots, and they shoud date back to the 1930s - 1950s.
soles are worn out, but the leather is still in very good condition -- applied some dubbin and now they look much better. german craftsmanship is top notch.

once i've brought them to a cobbler and had them resoled, they'll be real "baller" boots (genuine value as opposed to fantasy price).

Edi
Edit, area code

It really depended on the area. The 4 digit phone number was still in use in the Minneapolis during the early 50's. The larger metropolitan areas such as NYC, LA, etc adapted the 7 digit phone number with the area code a lot quicker than other cities.
