+1 - Winter issue military garb. Those pants appear to be French military issue (labeling), or possibly made for hunting. They look like Loden cloth to me, a very tough boiled wool that's virtually waterproof and thornproof.

Meh, this thread seems to have largely outlived its usefulness anyhow. My non-thread trades probably outnumber my thread-based trades 7:1 or more now. Most pages don't have any finds at all (really...just look 5 or so back), and the word "ebay" is probably the most frequently posted word in the last few hundred pages.
That said, dudes like GuitarPreacher give me hope - I'm going to be the beneficiary of his decision to not squeeze blood out of Alden (these will be my first Aldens and 2nd shells ever), and I'll repay the favor tenfold as soon as he gets back to me with an answer to my question about what kind of stuff he's looking for .
I sell **** on ebay too, but I doubt anyone would even know that since I don't think I've ever linked to my ebay account here in what I consider sacred space (at least I think I haven't). Sure, I'd love it if everyone else did too, but the thread trajectory seems to be in the exact opposite direction. Oh well I suppose.
More than willing to be corrected, but British Walkers, to my mind, are, were, a poor man's Imperial when Imperials were really, really good (think five nail v-cleat), which is to say, a very decent shoe. But I wouldn't bother if they are more than $10 in the wild (unless we're talking dead stock). Also, don't bother if they're not in exceptional condition.Anyone know about "British Walkers" shoes? They seemed decent, but were small (7.5 D), pricey, and completed listings were mixed. There were 2 NWOT pairs: one black, one brown - both EXACTLY the same, save their color. If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to proxy them.My first Holland & Sherry (NOT AVAILABLE)Like new Alden (my first!) Foot Balance 9.5. They're a little too long in the toe, so if anyone wants 'em . . . (Available)I also got this EXACT, save color, same pair. Trouble is, they don't say Alden, but they are, right? (Also Available) They come from a local orthopedic shoe shop, which does carry Alden (http://www.waxbergs.com/waxbergs-walk-shoppe-products.php)Also saw some similar script on another pair (wingtips), though smaller (7.5 D, I think) and more beat up.This is really nice, though I don't know what to call it. I'd guess it's a travel wallet. Made in Britain - Anyone know by who?. (NOT AVAILABLE)
+1, I personally enjoy the off topic conversation in the daytime while waiting for the next thrift post. Helps to pass the time at work when it's slow.Yes, oh well.
Not to put too fine a point on this, but you are obviously still reading, which makes me think that perhaps the thread does still have a use. If all you are looking for is finds, then it's easy to scroll past the discussions and look for pictures.
If folks posted only grails, this thread would get just a few postings a week. It is what it is, and no publicly accessible thread on the Internet could possibly be "sacred ground."
Bottom line, I'd rather have a lively thread than one that molders for days between "worthy" postings.
+1, and usually made of plasticy leather, similar quality to Dexter.More than willing to be corrected, but British Walkers, to my mind, are, were, a poor man's Imperial when Imperials were really, really good (think five nail v-cleat), which is to say, a very decent shoe. Ok guys, I've been trying to get a pit stain out of a silk Tommy Bahama shirt. So far it's been dry cleaned, dilluted vinegar mix for a few hours, washed, oxy clean for 24 hours, washed... Stain seems a bit lighter but still persists! Any suggestions? Really need to pull this stain out.
And to whom it may concern, silk Tommy Bahama shirts are oxy safe, but do expect some dye loss.
1. I didn't see the stain
2. I'm not flipping it...
3. I'm not wearing it either...
Ammo bag? Grill cover?

Thanks for the info. My research indicated as much. They were completely in untouched, perfect condition, which was the only reason I thought someone might be interested. Definitely a little plastic-y looking as well.+1, and usually made of plasticy leather, similar quality to Dexter.
Yeah, it's going on eBay...I can sometimes balloon myself up like a puffer fish and get by in an XL but I'm normally a Large - - this shirt however is way bigger than any XL I have seen. I seriously think it's mistagged. Well, I'll list it and not include the size, and say "read measurements below". Grazie.
