Crap.  I passed on numerous Gitman Vintage yesterday because I wasn't sure...might have to go back this weekend, but will probably be gone.

GVs are nice shirts. I own a couple and like them. They'll bring between 35 - 60 on ebay.

Although I'm not a journalist, I have my BA in journalism and study/teach in a academic journalism department.

There are no jobs, but I suppose you can help yourself by being a really good writer and at least decent with multimedia. Being numbers savvy helps, too.

My advice is to sell out and look into PR/corporate communications. There are jobs in these sectors - good, well-paying jobs.

Went at lunch... Found some like-new Allen Edmonds Eastport boat shoes, size 10.5M (my size but I don't need them, so available)

Also a NWT Brooks Brothers "Stain Resistant" tie and a silver patterned Sulka tie. Passed on an ugly brown and gray striped Brioni tie that had too many pulls.

Yeah, I've been the editor of an industry mag for a few years. The job is less than desirable, but at least it's a job and one that allows me to freelance on the side (and it's given me good experience running a magazine and all the related media ephemera). I've got my eye on a new job and am definitely looking at quasi-PR. I've resigned myself to the fact that full-time arts journalism jobs are non-existent.

My dream job, in this economy, would be editing an alumni magazine somewhere...

Not an epic haul but the best haul I've had so far.

I'm saving up for an epic vacation for my girl and I so most of these are going to Ebay.

I passed on a few Hugo Boss suits and a **** TONS of BB shirts, ties, Zegna shirts, and a few Orvis shirts that were made of poly blend. Is my expectation increasing?

So pissed couldn't find the pants to these and I looked everywhere for them, even my girl helped me!

First I was like

But then I was like

Time for some ugly ties.

I did arts publicity for a couple of years and left it feeling very cold and empty. Got to see a few good shows, though. I'm looking at more the broadcast side, which is probably not too different from print in terms of jobs.

^ If you're looking for stuff to flip to make money Hugo Boss suits do very well.

I would have left all of the ties except maybe the Pendleton.
Corrections, those were Hugo Boss jackets. I didn't even bother to look for the pants since they were black and they had tons of black pants.

Nice haul, you're definitely getting better at both finding stuff and leaving the chaff. I'm with Grendel on the ties though, except that bug one which I think is awesome for summer.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but anything Gitman with that logo (old timey-looking) is Gitman vintage, and worth a fair amount to certain SW&D folks. Or me, if it was a 16.

Thanks man. Those were some ugly ties but I had trouble leaving them behind as I am really really into ugly ties!

If you are in need of a quick buck, Hugo Boss suits in reasonable nick will flip for $50 - $100, newer models more. They do have limited trade kudos here though.
Canali is worthwhile and Brioni is usually a very desirable thrift find (unless it is super old).
Brooks Brothers or Hickey Freeman are hit and miss, if it is for your personal wardrobe or a quick trade here then quite respectable. eBay or B&S on the other hand, unlikely to make a major profit, more likely to break even. I believe AAAC is better for Freeman and BB if you desire to flip.
HSM I would not bother picking up. Nothing wrong with the suits for personal use, half canvassed usually, just not a highly prized flipper's item.
Ralph Lauren Polo are a bit iffy in terms of flipping. While it can be decent quality and elegant, too much is generic outlet level stuff. Makes it harder to achieve exposure on eBay given thousands of listings are prevalent for this brand. I would generally avoid a made in USA piece unless it is killer cool or reasonably modern, i.e. twin vents, higher gorge, etc...
Thanks for the AAAC heads up.

Yes! We go to the Mission district once in awhile. Maybe next time I'll run into you. When were you there last?

Man, I don't know how you guys flip volume- I'm just clearing out a backlog of maybe 10 suits, ties, shirts, etc. (respectively) and it takes forever.

Anyway, I come for advice:

Fake/Genuine? (May be the fakiest fakes ever faked but sunglasses rarely pop up in the thread, and I am subsequently ignorant).

Then this T&A tie. Anyone know what this weave is called?

The Ray-Bans don't look terribly fake. Try gently scratching the Ray-Ban logo off with your fingernail. If it easily comes off, fake and if not, possibly real.

How do the hinges feel? Tight and well-made? Look at the nose piece...is there an RB engraved in the metal? Is there a model number under the nose bridge?

i'm probably mistaken, but isn't Evil Abed around that size?

Thanks for looking out! Close, but I'm a 50L... Wonder what it measures out to. Guessing in the end the suit wouldn't look right if I got it taken in/shortened.

Haven't measured it yet, will let you know tonight. I'm a 46 and I looked like a kid wearing my dad's clothes when I tried it on.
