Re: Paul Stuart:
IMO better then Hickey Freeman. Look for the labels with all three city names on them (newest), two is older and one is oldest.

Howdy,

Picked up a couple "PS Tri-City" (term I just coined for PS labels with all 3 city names on them) pieces today: a sport coat made in Canada, 100% wool, ticket pocket, and pretty dope (fabric woven in France)...but I just quadruple-checked it and it has a small tear on the inside. Eh, easy fix. Other PS item is a long-sleeved plaid shirt, made in Italy.

Thank you again for the tip - I probably would have kept passing over PS stuff.

I have the exact same boots. Might be a bit clunky for city use, but excellent for hiking. If someone grabs these I would suggest adding some red laces and treat with Sno Seal (or a similar type of wax). Don't treat with anything that is going to soften the leather or else you'll loose the stiffness needed for hiking.

Sooooo, my thrift ban has been removed. Therefore I decided to take a walk to my neighborhood spot, didn't find much, but I did come out with these. 80's Raichle made in Switzerland mountaineering boots.Size is 9M. If anybody needs any kick-ass boots for next winter, get at me. I've got a pair of very similar Danners, and they are ******* BOMB proof!

You people. What you have done to me.

I had been looking forward to this day for six months: New Premium Outlets mall in Merrimack NH, a few miles up the road. Grand opening this weekend.

I went. What I found:
-- BB all 346 with no clearance rack
-- Saks had Brioni ties and some sweet black label (who makes these do you know? Zegna Cloth, Italy) suits BOGO but still, I could have months or perhaps a year of quality thrifting for the prices they were asking (and that thrifting would turn into trades and more consignment $$$). Or I could go wild on B&S or y'all's eBay and get more-better stuff...
-- Bloomie's had some canali ties and some Harris Tweed (HT branded!) coats for under $200 but common patterns I see at thrifts for $3-10
-- PRL outlet no RLPL or "the good stuff" you see sometimes

I walked out with a dress for my six-year-old daughter, just to burn the "buy $50, get $25 off" coupon at Bloomies and to round up to the minimum $50, a Boss silk pocket square.

You people have blasted my standards so high that this day, Father's Day, I had been looking forward to all year...was a total bust, ha! Only at thrifts can I find truly good clothes. Also this one has no ORvis or Barbour or H-F store, which others do. There will be a Vineyard Vines store opening soon though, so there's some hope...

Really no need, at that store they know me by name, what days and times I come, and what I'm looking for. Just never had anyone offer to bring stuff out from the back before. I guess that's one of the perks you get when you spend thousands of dollars at one thrift store over the course of a year.

Quote: I was kidding b/c of the wife... but yea I know what you mean. If you are friendly, the employees will go out of their way to be helpful. I bring coffee to my local place every few months as I tend to go at 9am when they open just to say hi and thanks

I can palm a basketball but I am not sure if that means my hands are giant...Lebron can do it...
Yeah, you have big hands, bro. I jealous. Since I was a kid, I always wanted to run while palming a basketball then jump from the free throw line to a dunk that's so sick, it would make put MJ to shame. Then again, I stopped growing around 5'8. FML

Nothing today, but some guy did pee on my shoes in the bathroom at Goodwill. He looked like a crazy person, so I pretended not to notice.

Noob question (I searched, did not find): how do you positively identify mother of pearl buttons?

I have some shirts that I suspect have MOP buttons - nice pearlescent "face" and white backs that may or may not have mottled brown patches on them, shirts all made in Italy. Is there a tried-and-true method for identifying MOP buttons?

Gracias!

Touch it to your lips (or fingers, if your fingers are sensitive enough...mine apparently aren't). It will be cold to the touch. Plastic won't.

everyone: don't forget to print out Androfan's advice and keep it in a safe place so you can more easily sue him when you catch herpes of the mouth.

EDIT: this not legal advice.
