Not 100% sure it's going to work out, so if you find one without elephant ears (looks halfway modern/normal normal but crappy quality) for $3.99 please pick it up!

Ugh, dry lately. Passed on:
Vasque boots made in Italy (I forget the size and they were fairly beat)
a bunch of BB ties
off white herringbone Jack Victor for Saks 70 silk, 30 wool sport coat (fully canvassed, recent, my size, but at $50 it was a little much b/c I need the sleeves lengthened)
Louis Vuitton button down (I was skeptical on this. Fabric didn't seem great and I have no idea if these are faked)
HF orphans

For myself:
Brooks Bros made in the USA single breasted trench. Fits like a dream. I inherited a very, very similar BB trench from my grandfather years ago and it's done nothing but sit in my closet. Since the new one fits better than the old, I'm looking to offload the old (42R). PM if interested.

SRLSY :wow:
Pics or it didn't happen!!!
I have lived here through college and the good portion of my professional life and have never been compelled to say, "Wow. That's a well-dressed guy" upon passing or meeting any one in Omaha
Another fellow Omahan, Achilles, found some Stefano Ricci shirts once while thrifting IIRC. But I think you may have gotten lucky.
Yes there is a lot of money in Omaha, however if you're rich as balls you typically don't look it. (Tons of boomers and their BRK-A and tons of wealthy farmers. Most are Buffett idols and live their lives in the miserly ways of Warren himself.
For the youth of Omaha, I gather that names with marketing cache like Burberry and Boss are pretty popular. I see a lot of that Burberry check around town. I have a tie that garners a lot of compliments and the exchange goes like this.
-That is a great tie. Is it Burberry?
-Thanks. No. It's Tom Ford.
-Oh. What's that? Did you get it at Von Maur?
-NVM
Not many Omahans have heard of names like Attolini, Partenopea and Isaia.

Fair points, though I'll add that even in well dressed areas (at least one's I've spent some time in: New York, Chicago, London) you aren't often blown away by well dressed men.
Also, that just wearing Brioni or RLPL doesn;t make someone well-dressed (in fact often the opposite is true).

You're right that it is a more reserved, less flashy town, and it doesn;t help that a lot of the good men's stores carry those overpriced brands like Tallia or whatever.

For it's size the city has a disproportionately large number fortune 500 companies. It has a really good art scene and a lot of very generous wealthy people, I've talked to people who run fundraisers and they say they usually raise far more at an Omaha event than one the same size in bigger cities (I sound like the Chamber of Commerce).

It's not like I find Brioni and Kiton every time I'v gone to a thrift store there, but I usually have found some good stuff (though my tastes are more Brooks Brothers and RL).

I'd give cptjeff 1st dibs if he wants them. I have a very similar pair (not longwings though) BUT if he passes let me know http://files.styleforum.net/images/smilies/icon_gu_b_slayer%5B1%5D.gif[/IMG

[/QUOTE]

I have a very similar pair (same longwing pattern, though their lower grade) in roughly the same color, though not pebble grain, so I'm probably gonna pass. Sorely tempting though, if those were in a dark brown or black... I suppose they could be dyed...

By the way, the price on the Oxxford linked in my sig is a complete shot in the dark, so if anyone wants it, throw a number my way. I try to price stuff to the market, but as long as a make something back I'm good.

I also found a modern cut 36S on that trip, though that's a Botany 500, which is apparently a MW brand these days. Bought it anyway (for myself), it's a nice color. If I remember to take a picture, I'll be in a suit wednesday, and probably that one. A couple ties too.

Today's thrifting brought to you by ....

who sent this little guy afloat across turbulent seas. How it ended up in a rather large, well-lit and surprisingly clean Goodwill, I will never know. But Anglophiles who love Shetland, live in a four-season part of the country and love to traipse around in 44 R sportcoats, take heed:

Whammy!

well, um, sideways whammy!

So yeah, get at me.

I also found this, which was a size 14 UK women's. I didn't know the brand, so I didn't pick it up, but that gives me an excuse to go back tomorrow if that size proves flippable.

Very, very similar to these: http://www.toast.co.uk/product/trou...ts&&pcat=trousers&adimage=&clr=C4GL7_Darknavy

I swear, they looked gigantic, that's why I didn't pick them up.

I'll show you some love on that - that hacking pocket shiz is BALLER. Wish it was a L instead of an R, and wish I hadn't put myself on a self-imposed SC ban.

Damnit. At least let me savor my vintage Turnbull for a second.

Thrifted a Land Rover today :D...well not exactly thrifted, and not below market value, but I bought it anyways.

:slayer:

The wife looked at the LR4 when looking for an SUV. I loved it but she wanted something a little less rugged. Oh well.....Have fun!

Oh, cool. I used to think that way, too, 'till I sampled some of the higher-end streetwear brands, 'tech' brands, etc. I'm sure when you think about it, you wouldn't mind paying more for a top athletic/outdoorsy label (Nataku, help me out here....!). A lot of brands develop synthetics in-house, perfect their own manner of distressing, etc., so I imagine sometimes, all synthetics are not created equal, and the fabric, all things considered, isn't as cheap as it sounds.

+1

I'm a huge fan of Arctyrex, Patagonia, Mammut, etc. I'm even a big fan of Lululemon. Great stuff! The fabrics are amazing and if you can get them on discount at REI or in their brick and mortar shops, it's a great deal if you don't want to wait around for them to pop up in your local thrift shop.

Are you guys ready for this?

Uh oh.....

I'll get my meager find in for today before the wave hits:

Giorgio Armany brown boots. Recent. Euro 44. Looks to have been worn only a handful of times. Available.

Also grabbed a cool Robert Graham white tonal paisley shirt with a crown embroidery for the bay.

On a better note, Anyone know a fella who wears 52L ? I picked up a nice BB Silver Label Camelhair SC - Beige w/ Pink Windowpane today. Thought it might work for the engineer here at work, but it was a bit too large in the chest.
Got that wrong...It's tagged 50L but measures like a 50R
100% Camelhair, Beige with Peach windowpane.
