This is cool.
Tons available/unsold on eBay. This one had no accessories with it, but I already have several brushes and polishes just sitting around without their own box, so I figured it was worth the 6 bucks.

Couple things available. Both mostly fit me, but I've accumulated too much into the "needs tailoring" pile and, frankly speaking, I need to get realistic about things.
Zanella 40R. Subtle blue weave. Given the material and my experience with Zanella jackets, I do not think this is an orphan. Tagged 40. Silk/wool blend. Double vented, 3/2 roll (could be converted back really easily). Fairly soft shoulders.

Unmarked blazer, likely made by Tom James. The guy it was made for owned the only golf course that hosts a PGA tournament in the state of Oklahoma. Fits like a 40R. Single vented. 100% wool. Baller pattern. Half-canvassed.

sleeve: 24
length: 31

Plaid measurements:

shoulder: 18
sleeve: 24
length: 32

Hah, yes another one.  I'm far north - no worries.  I rarely if ever get into the city proper, and work thrifting into weekend trips / vacations so much of it is out of town.

I hope you mean Woodstock. It is getting crowded around here. :)

Hey Beck, found some more those William Huang. Grabbed a set of 5, left a bunch of dupes. Sadly they're a little small for me but I think I have a good home for them...

Does anyone ever wonder about the previous owner of their thrift finds? When you find a name in a suit do you do a search?

Recently this came my way.

Thank you Mr Sigal. A gentleman of good taste and my measurements.

As usual I did a google search. Nothing much came up, other than someone with the same last name living in Toronto.

Today at the same thrift, a black suit caught my attention, been needing one. This one was older, decent quality and it fit.
The labels gave me deja vu.

Mr Sigal again.

And he must have been a local boy, shopped at Sam's dept store. Some more detective work was in order, since at least I owe him a drink.
Not surpisingly a search of the local papers website gave me his obituary.

Here's to you Mr Sigal, can I call you Izzy? Hope you like manhattans.

Close - Acworth...but the little piece of Acworth that dangles in Paulding County, so you know I'm not driving to ATL unless it's absolutely necessary. I draw the line at Marietta - you stay on your side, I'll stay on mine!

Does anyone ever wonder about the previous owner of their thrift finds? When you find a name in a suit do you do a search?

I did that last year with an old railroad over-nighter bag (like the little airline bag one would get in the 1970's when booking a vacation through a travel agency, but this one for a railroad). Had the guy's name, social security #, address and phone # written inside. Did a 411.com search and found him living in Oregon (where I was living at the time and obtained the bag) - 411.com said his age was 80-90 years old. I was tempted to mail it to him, anonymously just for personal kicks, but ended up selling it after I blacked out his SS #.

A few weeks ago I picked up some 1960's yearbooks that had the original owner's name in them, heavily signed, and included a big stack of photos of her as a cheerleader, majorette and so on. A little research showed she had been the homecoming queen one year. Listed them on eBay and the original owner bought them from me! (I knew this because her name was hyphenated with married surname in addition to her unmarried name). Crazy.
