Today's spread....

First up, a vintage Coach bag, I'm 99.9% sure this is the real deal. This thing is buttery soft and has solid brass hardware. For the wife, unless she hates it, then off to ebay. Pre-cleanup.

Brooks Brothers silk scarf and random hand rolled silk pocket square.

Never heard of this brand before but it has THE biggest mother of pearl buttons I've ever seen...harvest time.
][/URL]
And the mother of all "go to hell pants" made by Levis?....Noice!

Big E? Anybody?
Couple vintage solid wood hangers, including a burly ass suit hanger. I'm slowly getting rid of the cheap Target wooden hangers I have.

Super old boot trees. I was with my sister when I found these, and she swore she saw a pair just like these at the museum.

I been had shoe trees. I think I finally have a pair for every shoe I own! Also either a clothing brush or a rather large shoe brush. Made in the USA by Black Bear.

Ties, I think the Gucci might be fake, although the hand is as soft as the Hermes I've dealt with, the Brioni also might be fake, sorry for the crappy pictures.

I have a Gitman Bros ss Madras, size L. Yours if you want it, but you need to tear Frank Gore's ACL first.

lol8[1].gif
Well, you'll have to bring him to me... and pay my bail

I like this idea (and have some wants I can contribute), but isn't that what the trading thread is for?

Well sort of... But this is more of a "look out for this when you're out thrifting"... Kind of like Achilles_ with the Bobby Jones polos

Hey......let's leave the Saints out of this......still cant turn on the local news, radio, or anything without hearing more about bountygate or the new allegations about eavesdropping......
ffffuuuu.gif
....oh well......as long as they re-sign Drew Brees......

You looking for long sleeve, shirt sleeve, or both?

I'm a Falcons fan, so I have to take my joy in the little things rather than winning playoff games and such.

Both would be good

Martin + Osa was only around for 3-4 years. Their stuff was decent - a better J.Crew.

Picked up a Nicky Milano tie. Had to go to the bank and missed some good stuff at GW during my lunch break. When I got there this guy was trying on (and subsequently bought) a sweet Hickey Freeman windowpane sportcoat. We chatted for a bit when he saw I knew what I was looking for. Not a flipper, just another dude looking to pick up some decent duds for cheap a.k.a. everyone here.

Found a bunch of stuff on lunch break.

Most of it was from one store, which hadn't yeilded anything except a pair of cufflinks for nearly 2 months. I'm glad I kept going twice a week.

BB Tweedish Suit Brown
Oxxford Onwentsia SC feels like it may be linen/silk
6 Older HF Sportcoats
Older Burberry Glen Plaid Suit
Boss / Al Capone Wool/Cashmere DB SC Navy Blue

Next Store....nothing this time.

Next Store. I found a pair of nice brown Florsheim V Cleat 5 Nail Longwings (potentially dibs'ed)

I went to pay and saw the line was 3 -4 times longer than normal (family day). Twice as long as the normal family day line. I almost put the shoes back on the shelf, but decided to just be a few minutes late back to work.
When I arrived at the counter, I saw a trombone behind the counter and inquired about the price....I am an instrument junkie, and brass instruments flip pretty well too. It was $40. The woman behind the couner said "we had a saxophone earlier, but it must be gone". The other lady said, "no it's over in jewelry". I spied it from across the counter. The case looked very old, in a croc finish. Not sure if its real croc, probably not. I saw the old tarnished neck of the sax sticking out. The price was good, so I bought it without even looking at it. I didn't want to hold up the line and I flipped a sax from the same store a few months back for a good profit.
Got to the office and opened the case. Turns out its a Wurlitzer (Conn Stencil) Low Pitch Alto Sax. It's the 1914 patent and the serial indicates it is from 1917. I couldn't see any structural damage, but will need a good cleaning and probably new pads.

I'm stoked. Pics later.

Martin + Osa was owned by American Eagle. I think it was their attempt to do fashiony type things. Never really took off, I think it went under 2 or o years ago. They seem to have made some decently nice things but never developed favor with their intended market. My presumption is that the brand's association with AA had something to do with this.

from earlier this week, and probably my last semi-regular outing since work and real life will begin next week:

Ballantyne 100% cashmere cardigan and a (terribly photographed) maybe real Versace knit polo:

Some shirts for me - Pendleton, Pal Zileri with a funky collar, Balenciaga:

Ties - Vineyard Vines, semi-ugly Gianfranco Ferre, Armani (can anyone verify if the last two are real or not?):

If you sell me that saxophone I will give you many monies. Actually, this is probably insanely out of my price range, and I haven't picked up my own awesome vintage sax in a while. But if I were you, I would definitely consign that with one of the vintage sax sellers on the net.

It's too big I'm afraid.
These are actually shoe stretchers rather than boot trees. Usefull find.

Nice! Good to know. Sooo, can I just put these in shoe that's a little too small, wait a couple weeks, and they will be sightly larger?

Yep, there is a leather streching spray which is applied to the inside of the shoe first then you insert the stretchers and give them a crank every so often. It's always best to have a cobbler stretch your shoes, but these are good in a pinch (no pun intended, seriously). The really only work for width, so don't go buying shoes two sizes to small and try to make them longer.

There is info in the forum somewhere about the whole process.
