okay so to continue,i put "find" in quotes because technically it will be a auction at the end of the month.im very friendly with a manager at a thrift here in town and he actually let me see and handle these before they go on the auction block.now let me tell you something, pics dont do justice and the cases they came in are just as intricate and beautiful.
they are made in switzerland, germany and france respectively.date form around the 1860 (we think).the first one is sterling silver with solid gold inlay, the other two are SOLID gold. no idea what movement they are or even maker, you have to open them up to determine that and he just doesnt wanna risk it.

Most of us on here brag about finding good clothes or shoes or whatever and end up spilling our coffees when we read about DM7's finds while Valium (Frenchy) is finding mid-century modernist sofas, pallets of rosewood, oval-shaped space ship speakers, and now inlaid silver and solid gold antique heirloom-type pocket watches. I'm happy finding wearable shoes while he's finding ******* buried treasure. WTF!?!

... I'm going to flip my damn desk after typing this.

Not since page 79.

:fistbump: Glad to see someone else actually read the whole thread! ;)

Welcome!
Pick up Vicuna. That stuff goes really great on eBay.

I looked at that auction and was all set to say "you know, I'm not 100% sure that's even vicuna... both spots there would be a fabric label are bare" and then I read the description - this is the notorious ebayed-the-fabric-for-5-grand coat that got the article in Robb Report. I AM really glad to see detailed photos of it after so long, but man.

Want to know the worst part? That thing is my effing size. Let me just go sell THE ENTIRETY OF MY CLOSETS including shoes, and i might come up with a best offer he MIGHT take. At least it's 90% going to charity!

Hey guys, would love some help figuring out what the hell these are, as I can't find anything quite like them by Ferragamo on the interwebz.  And while they *look* like suede, they have more of a...plasticy consistency when I compare them to my other suede shoes.  Are they driving slippers/moccasins?  Did I get hosed?  Are these not legit? They just seem so...odd to me.  A google search with that number string doesn't net anything.  Anyone with knowledge about this kind of stuff, feel free to chime in.

In a word, those are ugly.

got dat Brioni tux. pix later. Also picked up my EZ Traveler SC from the tailor and that **** is dialed.

Recent label, yes?

And the fit pic:

I picked the Brioni and this Zegna (among others) at the same store. Total honey pot, though not in the same league as DM7's.

I don't really thrift, but have worked deals and purchases with a number of regulars in this thread.
I figure I could post a picked-up-from-a-thrifter fit pic:
Isaia jacket from a cosbysweater - it's slight lighter than navy, but not quite the "blueberry" Isaia and a nice lightweight wool. I added white MOP buttons to make it a my go-to casual summer jacket.
Shirt, pants, undies, shoes are not thrift finds :hide: but they were all had at way less than retail :nodding:

Steve, that looks dope on you and I approve of the button swapping. Glad it worked out!! I still haven't found another Isaia piece in the area, but NM does seasonal trunk sales for Isaia so I'm hoping people start ditching their couple year old pieces.

Got that, I am saying a key is used to wind that particular movement, not the ones you posted. Therefore, it wasn't discussed. We would have probably been better off just allowing him to post the pictures and not have commented. The discussion was incredibly convoluted.

well i dont own them (yet?) but thanks anyway.congratulate me later.
like i said before though,as nice as these watches are i was more impressed with the little display cases, they almost looked like Fabrege Eggish...i think you will know what i mean

also guys just some advice, this lady also donated two LALIQUE vases, these can fetch anywhere from $1000 to $30000.
i now always check all the glassware, you cant miss them they are always handblown and usually look frosty.and they are always signed on the bottom.
sometimes just Lalique sometimes R.Lalique.
"i know a guy" i really do (no its not frenchy) ,that has found 3 of these over the span of five years so they are out there

Quote:
Finding a Lalique piece would make my head explode. Especially one of his extremely rare hood mascots: http://www.finesse-fine-art.com/Lalique/lalart.htm There are a whole grip of them up for auction this month and the estimates are in the tens of thousands for each.

First thrifting post, here are my pickups from the last few weeks. Wasn't aware of the trading going on in here so sadly they're both my size (not available)

Made in Canada PRL Sportcoat (any idea who made this? Samuelsohn?)

Not thrifted but extremely marked down ($29!) BB Sportcoat

Tie haul! (Zegna, Zegna, Thomas Pink, Boss, Faconnable, Luciano Barbera, PRL, Duchamp)

Quite the addictive hobby you have here! Consider me hooked..
