Passed on a BNWT 100% cashmere mini houndstooth pattern PRL sport coat by Corneliani for $350. Original price was just north of $2300. Should I go back for it? I don't own any PRL tailored stuff so I wasn't sure if it was a good deal or not.

Not a huge find, but for $2:

vintage Rooster, green and navy horizontal striped (with a subtle brown woven through), silk knit tie. Pointed end, not square.

I've started pinning mine with a bulldog clip or two to give it some form, as it it were being worn by someone in the tagged size. I think it gives an appropriate estimate of fit to the buyer, assuming you don't pin it skin tight.

Glad you like the mannequin! I figured it'd be a waste just to toss them when there are so many sellers here photographing their clothes on hangers.

Sorry Nakatu (and some others), I don't feel bad about y'all not getting one because you seem to wring every last cent out of your buyers with your photos; I'd hate to see what you could do with a mannequin.

I do. You almost have to since the mannequin body (at least the one I have) is pretty small. A 17.5/35-36 shirt looks freakishly weird on a 15.5/32 torso.

Agreed, though I have not been able to get the shoulders to look correct on a smaller torso either so I purchased a 42-44 sized torso in addition to my 36. The problem is that you NEED a small one or else you cannot show your smaller goods but I don't like how the larger goods look on it.

Baller statues with TWO mannequins! Thanks for the info guys, need to pick up some clothes pins I guess. Off to Home Depot this afternoon to build a stand for my new guy so the shirts and jackets can hang down past his waist. Pics coming soon

Mad love to acosbysweater for the mannequin/female torso. At first my wife thought I had gone completely nuts, but then when I suggested she use it to decorate her walkin closet, she changed her opinion. Thanks, that saves me from having to shop the women's isles in the thrifts this week. (BTW, she was right...I have gone completely nuts.)

Had a fairly disappointing weekend of near misses. BB 100% cashmere SC that fit perfectly but a pen had exploded in the pocket and the lining was a mess.
Nice Barbera DB SC with 3 smaller moth holes. Older RL Chaps cream Camelhair SC with suede elbow patches missing 2 leather buttons on one sleeve.

WTB: I'm on the lookout for a basic suit (solid gray or navy) in 42R, good quality (mid-light weight, nothing fancy, Brooks Bros, Hickey, etc.) for a friend of mine. It needs to be in great shape, no issues, enough length in hem and sleeves to alter. He's new to used clothing, and I don't want to spook him. PM me with details if you turn one up.

this is also the exact thing that I am lurking for. given your stature and tenure on SF I will assume the back-seat role on this one . look forward to seeing what you come up with, however.

Gonna take my first foray onto the bay today, got a few things left over that I haven't traded here and I don't think too many people would be interested in. Wondering if anyone's got some general advice about listings or anything. I've listed a few things before, but it seems like people don't just do like a .99 auction NR with clothes as it is with a lot of other things. I'm gonna throw up this Pendleton and possibly a Canali shirt and see how they do before I put too mcuh else on I guess.

If you are running 7 day auctions, start the 8-9pm EST on a Sunday. It has been documented (and just look at any of the big sellers) that it is the best time to end an auction. That being said 99 cent NR is very risky, unless you KNOW that it will have a bunch of people bidding and bidding early, something like a 36S Brioni suit for example (how I wish someone would post one on ebay at any price really). I personally like to use BINOBO listings for 30 days. They cost 20 cents each and if your in no rush just list it and forget about it. Without running 99 cent auctions, you'll go through a few bucks just listing the stuff each time if it does not sell. I'm sure some other "auction style" guys will chime in shortly. Good luck!
