Just a Brooks Brothers...! Oh man, I'm such a brand whore for BB. I am still on the hunt for a navy/brass DB that doesn't have aircraft carrier shoulders.

Dig, what size are you again? I picked up a BBGF DB navy/brass 2 days ago.

Hah! Reset your preferences to 100 posts per page and you'll only have one page to catch up with. It's still the same number of posts but it feels more manageable.
teacha.gif

Meanwhile, I picked up my newly thrifted Brooks Brothers custom made navy suit from the cleaners (gotta kill the mothies) and went to my tailor for a fitting. She pointed out that it has surgeon cuffs! I missed that completely. I'm having her taper the pants like a fiend. I can't wait to wear this puppy!
That brings up another point that has occurred to me.
There are so many great finds in this thread and we see pics of them on hangers and mannequins and such. We never see anyone wearing any of it. After I get my stuff altered, I try to post a shot or two in the WAYWRN threads. Did I get hammered? You bet! But it made me make better decisions regarding whether my finds actually fit me and what colors and features to look for. I guess my point is that now I feel that not only do I own fine clothing, that clothing works to improve my appearance.
Let's see some fit pics. Either here or in WAYWRN. This is a forum that thrives on seeing what people look like in their clothes. I believe that the vast majority here who offer opinions on fit pics are honestly trying to be helpful, as long as you consider their advice and don't go straight to defcon 5 if someone doesn't care for how your recent Kiton fits on you.
I keep a styleforum thread that I put a lot of my fits into and you can see some of the (what I hope is / have been told is) improvement in my sense of style as time has passed. If anyone wants to see some horrible fits and some of my more successful attempts, click on my "Dig" signature at the bottom of this or any of my posts. Feel free to comment. I'm not trolling for thread participation, really!

I'd just like the opportunity to see if people are thrifting to their benefit or might need a nudge or two toward a different direction. Your mood may vary.

Depending on the cut, 38S, 40S or 42S! I was wearing my suede BB (small) jacket all day today!

I think you may have missed my post yesterday(?) about my visit to the Boatyard a couple of Sundays back. Bring it with you next time you're down and well have lunch/dinner/whatever.

It's more of a 42R.
Measurements:
Chest 45, Waist 42, Sleeve 24, Shoulder 19.5, Length 31.

I did see it and totally forgot to comment on that. Glad you liked it. I can't find any decent seafood up here, so its always a treat when I go there.

The shoulders/sleeveheads look perfect on that jacket. That's always problematic for me. Have the sleeves shortened a bit when you get the pants done. Flatfronts look good as well. Nice outfit.

I need some help here, gentlemen. Saw these brand new Peal & Co. for BB brown perforated captoes at my local SA. $100 and in my size. Pretty sure they're the exact same ones as in the link below.
http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...rt_by=newArrivals&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=#
Problem is, they are marked up. The pictures are pretty indicative of the condition. Will a conditioner and polisher clean them up? Or should I just leave them be?

Go to the completed listings I'm my eBay. Find the link on my sig below. I just sold a pair of new BB's brown perf captoes (11B) made by c&j for $230. You can check.the pics of the inside of the shoe to compare to what you saw. If they fit $100 is a very good price for that shoe.

I know Typhoid was kidding, and call me a glutton for punishment, but I do want to defend myself on one point: I get that I totally missed the boat on the "tell" in the EZ label, but I stand by the notion that there are shirts out there -- generally single cuff -- that can be either buttoned or french cuffs. See, e.g., this thread: http://www.styleforum.net/t/45709/difference-between-single-cuff-barrel-cuff-and-double-cuff.
In particular:
Others in the same thread talk about the same phenomenon, and I've even seen -- and bought -- Tyrwhitt shirts with this cuff configuration. I've inspected those shirts 8 ways from Sunday and if they're a fake, they're high enough quality that it doesn't make a scat of difference.

I have an Italian-made tuxedo shirt with buttons behind the outer cuff of the double sleeve cuff and sewn on just above the exterior buttonhole of the interior sleeve cuff - that style of sleeve cuff is out there, but not really common in my experience. I've also seen a Brioni tuxedo shirt with an extended rear shirt-tail that comes up between your legs and fastens to the front shirt-tail around the fly area meant to keep it from coming untucked. This style of shirt reminds me of a baby's onesy.

Capnwes, nice suit. Before you have the pants shortened, can you wear them higher? Ideally the shirt shouldn't be visible between pants and vest.

Here's what I came up with today:

Ermenegildo Zegna 85% cotton / 15% cashmere long sleeved shirt. Faint blue & gray grid pattern over a light colored, herringbone textured background. The size tag in VERY faint - made in Italy(?). 17 1/2 neck & 26 inches from shoulder seam to cuff.

Ermenegildo Zegna 100% cotton twill flat front pants lined to the knee, with finished seams, and cuffed. Kind of a dark mustard in color. Made in Romania. 38 x 30 or so. (These are really classy.)

2 J. Press dress shirts. Blue line grid on white and solid blue. Both made in USA. 16 1/2 x 35 and 15 1/2 x 34, respectively.

Vintage Brooks Brothers navy blue blazer with 3 patch pockets. Made in USA. 46 L.

2 Vintage Brooks Brothers short sleeve summer shirts. Yellow. Both made in USA. 17 and 17 1/2.

Vintage Brooks Brothers 100% wool flannel trousers with forward pleats and no cuffs. Charcoal gray. Made in USA. 34 x 32 or so. (These are really classy, too.)

Recent Brooks Brothers 100% worsted wool flat front trousers, cuffed. Charcoal gray. Made in Canada. 33 x 30 or so.

Vintage Coach black leather belt. Made in USA. 40.

And a pile of vintage 1960's Brooks Brothers ties.

Everything's available. Lemme know if anyone has any questions or wants to see pic's. Thanks! -M-

Similar to Nat, had a solid haul this week. However in contrast, got the goods for the huskier fellas, 43-46:

Recent Brioni POW Super 150's SC in 44R. Feels good man.

Brioni Herringbone SC in 44L

Oxxford Navy Blue with Thin White Stripes Suit in 43R

Corneliani SC in 46R

Interesting piece from Yohji's mainline:

It's like a kimono + cardigan. I like it.

Picked up a couple of orphaned recent Oxxfords that I think could be used as SC's. Too lazy to take pics and post.

Left a BB 1818 Fitzgerald.
