Hey team,

A little help please. Spotted this label in a consignment store and thought it was nice but not 100% on the maker.

The only visible label was one identical to this link. So i know it's made in Naples and got excited when i saw the red dot over the "i" but not sure if this indicates Kiton or does that mean nothing at all?

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/HARRY-ROSEN-...eC16F,!zQE9s3sqJcwBQvRE82mI!~~60_57.JPG?rt=nc

Looked on the ID thread and the Kiton there didn't have much. Anyone recognize this fabric tag?

Gentlemen...

I would say "Fishy went thrifting", as I normally do, but that wouldn't really do the events of the past few days justice.

Instead, thrifting. Went. Fishy.

Everything is available unless otherwise noted.

Let's start this off slow, shall we?

CT Cashmere scarf, little wear mark.

Plenty more simple stuff to go...

Zegna shirt, french cuffs, 17/43

BB Navy and yellow houndstooth in 36S. Too big on me, rofl

(teensy stain in lining)

Armani LC Orphan (Will sell on Bay)

Zegna Soft

Canali LP Wool Cashmere blend

Pocket squares (Unavailable, MINE! :D)

All bout dat T&A... What? Turnbull and Asser, of course! Get your head out of the gutter! Sportcoat, 44R, Brown Herringbone. Very classy.

Nom nom nom delicious tie

700

Okay, time for the heavy hitters.

Always check the belts!

PRL Lizard belt with sterling silver hardware. 28.

Found a vase full of watches! Most were terrible (Lots of fakes, lots more terrible ****** watches, etc) but one caught my eye in the vase... It's the last one on the right of these four, which turned out to be awesome. The first three are available, the last is most certainly not. Mine mine mine mine mine! :)

But the final item puts everything else, combined, to shame.

Trust me, you want to see this.

The most beautiful bespoke sportcoat I've ever found! No fabric tag, but it's definitely an extremely fine wool- at least a 120. I did my best to capture all of the details, but I didn't even close to do them justice. No shortcuts were taken. Handwork everywhere. Every buttonhole is handmade, pick stitching all over the place... But it gets SO MUCH BETTER. READ ON!

Nom nom nom delicious buttonhole

Flower loop! :D

Check out that handwork on the sides of the collar!

And the back

'

Point where one of the jacket buttons was sewn in.

Pickstitching on pocket flaps

More delicious buttonholes. Nom nom nom.

Yes, of course the cuffs are functional.

Only flaw is straining on one side of the vent, which has been fixed, albeit by an amateur.

I know who I'm going to when I need a suit! This guy knows how its done!

Oh yeah, and it was owned by this guy...

http://www.giandecaro.com/press/fourseasons.pdf (Confirmation that DeCaro is, in fact, Gates's tailor)

Nobody checked it out, at all. I paid 11.99 for it -less than I paid for the brooks brothers 36S!

And that, gentlemen, is what thrifting is all about.

classic thrift thread post, the BIll Gates suit.

Now if you could only flip it because of the provenance. Unfortunately, it's probably not worth much (you wouldn't believe how much stuff people brought to me as a sports memorabilia writer -- "but this is Mickey Mantle's cigarette lighter!" "DId he use it to hit a home run or sign it?" "No, but it's Mickey Mantle's!" "Sorry, son.") but it's something that SHOULD be.

Although, in this case, I wonder what an appraiser would say. Especially in Seattle or Portland or San Jose. I'm wondering, if it were appraised at $5,000 and you donated it to the LIving Computer Museum or something if you could get, say a big tax break for doing so. Very interesting. Of course they'd have to want it, but who wouldn't? I myself think it's awesome. [on second thought, to claim the value of the donation, you'd have to pay capital gains tax on its acquisition, one would think. They get you both ways. Any lawyers in the house can validate that?]

still, I think it's an awesome story.

Grabbed a Fidelity peacoat in size 40 today. (I'm pretty sure it's the first one listed on http://fidelitypeacoat.com/) It fits me well, but it's a little short in the sleeves and I'm not sure I want to spend more to have it altered. So if anyone is interested and has something cool to trade, I'm all ears.

all dat charvet. yes, that sticker says $25.99

Nice...perfect lead in to my 1st post in a few weeks- been really busy, and then out of town for a wedding & mini-vacation. Ended up in Orlando to visit Mickey, and got my 1st taste of Sak's Off Fifth and NM Last Call...didnt really get to do any thrifting but did manage to hit up those 2 stores.....saw every label imaginable....Kiton, Tom Ford, Cucinelli, along w/ Brioni, Charvet, Isaia, etc....really jealous of you guys that have those stores near by...

Picked up a few things there, using the $20 off $40 someone posted here (I think DM7- thanks!!)

Brioni tie for me...

Also found these at a little less than 10% of retail (not that anyone on this thread pays retail....) was only gonna buy one but when I got to the register and found out how cheap they were, went and grabbed the other....

Have a few thrift stores finds from the last few weeks I'll post a little later...

Returned to ll bean outlet today for kids clothes. They are having a heckuva sale and have truckloads of good stuff.

EazyE here's some signature label pix -- I see your boots had "Inc." on the signature label and the characters seems smashed (kerned) together moar closely than these labels. I would guess those are the tells old v new

From a coat, above and below. Below that, khaki shorts. Note the word "signature" appears only in hang tag, although "Freeport Maine" appears on the labels

Total aside: I am also really digging the new recent features making posting much friendlier on the iPhone...

PSA to the DC crowd (though may be redundant with all the signs that are out) - Nordstrom Rack opening on Thursday on 19th and L.

Hackett casual trousers with more wear than I initially noticed. Size 32, available cheap.

Tag from a recent J Press blazer. Made in Canada. Can anyone confirm Samuelson?

Sorry Ive been MIA the past few days, busy as ****. Had some sick hauls that Im in the process of documenting. Will try and get pics up soon.

Nataku, saw the SpooSignal, looks real.

Thrift synergy would bring a Steve Jobs piece to the table thats made of vicuna, and buttons that are much more intuitive to open. Did Gates' jacket come with excel?

Hans, those Carreras are INSANE. Small fortune, guaranteed.

Thrift fit?

And actually, if you could find either Bill Gates's monogrammed shoes or underwear, I think you'd be in for a mountain of eBay cash (this after stumbling upon some disturbing YouTube vids when searching for quality shoes awhile back. Plus, you know...Japan. )

...the Jobs Jacket would force you to carry the built-in Stocks and Passbook documents that reappear in the pockets when you throw them away, and track everywhere you go and sell your location to the highest bidder....all the while telling you how much better than the Gates jacket it is. And it would reek of patchouli
