Does combed back hair always = pompadeur

I am starting a new job, and I am starting to get serious about the way I look.

I hear pompadeurs are kinda ugly looking and 90's fashion, but I have the perfect wavy hair for it. But when i do comb my hair back, it doesnt look that bad. Looks more like a Pierce Brosnan James Bond slicked back hair style than a Fonzie slicked back hair style. Just wondering if this style is always called a pompadeur or not?
