That's strictly because they are underfunded. When you're a real warlord, nothing less will do. Now if only lambo still made their SUV...

interesting. I plan on purchasing a new car within the next year, and was torn between the RR Sport and the Porsche Cayenne for a daily driver....i was learning towards the RR based on looks alone, however this is changing my perspective.

The RR sport is junk. Go for the porsche. I drove one all last year and had to take it in almost every week. They're beautiful but they're just too much headache for what they're worth. My little brother's fiance had a LR discovery and it was the same. I'm shopping for an old Series III. I want to put a turbo diesel in it.

I have one and love it. In my opinion it is one of the best looking vehicles ever made. Interior comfort is great -- get the upgraded interior if possible.

Mine is a 2006 full size HSE. Low mileage used ones under warrantee are going for great prices these days. Drives very well for it's size on the highway and pretty much goes anywhere you want it to go.

If you go to Land Rover forums you will see many complaints about reliability but if you go to any car forum you see problems -- the nature of the forum. Any car company turns out lemons...

That said, if it is under warantee you are covered. The cars are relatively cheap to buy now so when the warantee runs out, use the money saved on repairs if needed.

PS 18.5 mpg in mixed driving. Not much different than the BMW sedan I traded for it...

I have been offroading in one, and it was a lot of fun.

There is something romantic about a range rover. Its very majestic and it gives you a warm feeling. My ex has an 06 and she has never had problems with it. She got it in the middle of the "fuel crisis" so she got a great deal on it. There is something special about pulling into a park, blasting some frank, smoking a cigar, sitting on the tailgate. It is not the most powerful car, not the most reliable, not the most well appointed, but it is definitely the correct choice in the class. You get this fuzzy feeling when you are whafffttting along down the motorway.
