Taking Your Girl to Vegas - Page 2

Tiecollectior, was your room in the Venezia (Venetian's hotel inside a hotel)? Their rooms are excellent. Next time I go, I want to either stay in Wynn's Encore or the Pallazo.

Vegas isn't "real" and thus doesn't have iGent appeal, however, as someone told me when I was there, "they aint making their money on the bedrooms." The prices are artificially low, because they expect to make it back from you in the casinos. So if you can avoid losing in the casinos, it can be a neat trip. Worth going every 10 years or so at least

Back to LV...for anyone interested in going to Vegas, I was just told yesterday that The Venetian has suites for $100/night and you get a $100 gambling credit upon check in. I don't work for them, and I'd call first if you're thinking about checking it out.

I stayed in a 1400 sq ft suite, I don't know what it was called. You needed to pass a security guard to get to your room. I was probably inside it for 30 minutes aside from sleeping. It was fun to do once but I'll be getting the cheaper rooms at the Bellagio next time or if I feel like splurging with all out pampering, the Wynn. The room kind of annoyed me because there weren't any plugs in site for my phone. I ended up having to plug it in under the bed almost and then forgot my iPhone charger. It was annoying and I'm pretty sure the maids saw the Apple logo and swiped it. I did take the woman and future MIL on the indoor gondola ride with some quick blackjack winnings. It was fun and they import real Italian gondoliers.

i try to visit vegas annually. there's always something new and exciting to do there: clubs, shows, and shopping. concerning gambling, i'm waiting to amass enough money to join the poker tournaments. i don't do anything else in that department. Love the lights and the strip. bringing anyone is fun. bringing your gf/wife is extra special i'll say. best place to have a 21st birthday too.

I do find the 'Westworld' aspect a little off putting. Now that the industry has refocused on the family for its gaming potential, I'm sure the hotels and restaurants are top-notch, and a good value to boot. It is certainly true that 'they ain't making their money on the bedrooms'. The comped niceties lavished on the highrollers is truly mind boggling. I knew someone growing up whose family vacations always involved deluxe trips to Monte Carlo, the Bahamas, etc. Mom and kids would have a week of pampered luxury, while dad often flew home early ...

Sounds like the Venezia. It was the Venezia if you had to take the first elevator to the actual Venezia lobby (as I said, it's like a hotel inside a hotel), then take whatever elevator from there to get to your room.

I know someone who is going there for Thanksgiving. Like 4 nights + plane tickets for $400-500. I guess Thankgiving is a slow time in Sin City Hotels must be hoping they will lose $100/day in the casino. Isn't that the average?

I've tried many times to enjoy Vegas - Its a must for meetings and trade shows I attend.

If I had to choose - I think the Wynn and Encore suite me best.

I cant help but feeling the Facsimile effect of everything in Vegas, and help but thinking how much money it takes to make everything look so cheap. Its a stage set, and I guess I'm just not getting it, the forced effect of most buildings and design treatments is not appealing to me.

To each his own.
