Scoring Men's Oscar Attire

Thread Starter
Will probably watch the Oscars tonight and thought I'd have some fun by scoring the men's style errors and rate the best and the worst. Anyone in perfect white tie will have take the palm. Anyone in a suit is automatically disqualified. For the men in tuxes, I would assign an automatic 100 points and deduct as follows: Notch lapel: -10 Wing collar: -10 Obviously pre-tied bow tie: -10 Four-hand-tie: -25 No tie: -50 More than one accessory (tie, cummerbund, pocket square) not black (or white for the pocket square): -20 No shirt studs: -15 Matching tie and cummerbund in anything other than black: -30 Failure to wear a vest or cummerbund (except for db): -40 I would further deduct an unspecified number of points for anything egregiously garish or untraditional. Anyone else want to play this game to see who is the best and worst at the Oscars? Criticisms or suggested emendations of my scoring system would be welcome.

It's amazing how poorly dressed some men are at such a high profile event considering how much they pay for their clothes and consultants. I actually think that some men look good in "untraditional" outfits. Take Carlos Santana: wearing the Che Guevara shirt just seems right for him. Anyways, as for a best-dressed guess, I'll say Clint Eastwood.

I hear Tom Cruise is a Brioni man. Even though he isn't up for anything, maybe we'll see him in something respectable.

Alex, Have you seen anything you've produced on the red carpet tonight?

Can we have a 'reference picture' of the optimal tuxedo setup for us poor neophytes? -s

If you are asking whether I am aware that any of my clothing will be worn at tonight's Oscars, yes. As to whether I've actually seen it on the Awards coverage ... Personally, I would rather watch the

Looks like Pierce Brosnan is winning. Black bow-tie and all, Clint is wearing a green bow-tie, but otherwise pretty close.

I agree, Pierce was dressed very well.

I think that Morgan Freeman looks great. His gold scarf-thingy would look silly on most guys, but he is old enough and cool enough to pull it off.

Okay, the rented tux I had for my wedding looked better then Pacino's. And a thumbs up for Pierce Brosnan And did anybody catch the horrible poor fitting shirt on Antonio Banderas during the song he sung?
