Getting the hell away from Metro DC. I'm scheduled to be working that day but I'm taking off simply because I won't be able to get on Metro.

It just all around sucks for you because you're too young to get into anything cool. Still, you could still go to the Mall with some friends and pick up some hot young women high on hope, change, ideas and weed.

The Mall? I hope you are not serious, I try to avoid that area even when we're not hosting an inauguration

It's great for running. My house, down to Lincoln, then back. Needs more bars in the area though; Penn is too far. Driving through there is a bitch. It's like the tourists don't know what the timers on the signs mean. I'll drive down to the H St. on ramp rather drive through the 14th St. clusterfuck.

Still, for pussy, I'd brave it.

My wife works a very short distance from the White House and they've been told that they have to work that day. Anyone who can telecommute is allowed to, but others have to go in. What in the hell are they thinking?

Thankfully, she's taking the day off and I get they day off automatically.

^^ That's bullshit! You'd need 2 hours to get anywhere that day. Most of the city will be shut down with the exception of those places that sell booze.

My office in downtown Silver Spring will be open -- all my coworkers are up in arms about it, since they mostly take Metro or MARC to work...

I live just three blocks away and put in for the day off two months ago. sucks to be them.

once of prevention = pound of cure, etc.

...and monthly MARC passes won't work that day and the $25 daily fares are all sold out.

MARC/employers are really screwing some people.

Does the monthly MARC pass at least cost less for January?

I think sometimes the rest of the country forgets that this is a city where people live and work and not just a place where Congress convenes and the President resides.

I don't know, but I doubt it since it's a fixed fare.

Yeah right. Like we get a vacation when Congress is on recess. It's the only time we can actually get work done.

Where's the option to recover from the hangover gained the previous weekend?

Hey guys, I have a new Inaugural Master List in case anyone needs it. PM me your email and I'll send it.

Also, I have ticket information and final details on the Hip Hop Caucus (www.hiphopcaucus.org) inaugural events in the coming days, including our concerts with Mary J Blige, Will.i.am, Nelly and others. Sponsorships are available too! It's not my thing but a really good friend of mine is organizing it and I want to see it successful.

<--- my thoughts on Absolute Addiction. An elitist attitude for events that aren't that great. Granted, I haven't been to Shadow Room, but all of their 1223 events I attended were less than spectacular.
